  1. Brought the Datsun to the track finally, raced a good friend of mines 10sec nova. Car did good, have to switch gears though, 101mph in the 1/8th, 114mph in the 1000, and 114 in the 1/4. So gonna drop the gears numerically to some 3.70s. Anyway, bouncing off the rev limitter for three all out passes, 10.75, then 10.73, then, 10.74. 1.51 60' and a 1.48 60'. Overall, good night of racing, now time for gears, and tuning to hopefully go faster :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDmns68DD3Y&feature=share&list=ULLDmns68DD3Y
  2. Sorry about the picture quality, most photos were taken with a cell phone.
  3. Well I sold my Powerstroke in December, had too much lift to be practical. So instead of being smart and buying another truck I decided to build something. So, I went truck hunting but had to limit my search since I didnt have a truck to tow anything back from super long distance. So a 53 Chevy 5 window popped up about 5 miles from me, picked it up for a grand and started the project. Started the project by buying an 79 chevy heavy halfton for the frame and suspension. Took the 53 down to the frame and the 79 down to the frame, took the front and rear out of the 79 and cut up the frame to use it to box in the 53 frame. Then widened the front side of the frame by two inches so the independent front would bolt directly to the frame. Then we put the 79 leafs and 12 bolt in, had to relocate the mounts on the 12 bolt, and make mounts on the frame. Then took the scrap 79 frame and boxed in the 53 frame. Next the cab went on, and the mock up the the 12v cummins started. right off the bat we noticed that the firewall was gonna have to go. Anyway we got the motor where it needed to be, which was about 8 inches in the cab. Built a doghouse, built it as close to the motor as practical cause wanted as much leg room as possible. Next we put in a telescopic/tilt steering column out of a 80s caddy, had to make our own steering rod with joints, no real issue there though, also installed pedals that are adjustable out of a 02 F150. Then we cut the bed out of the 79 chevy and installed it in the 53 bed, I like the look of wood beds but its not practical for what I want. (If you haven't noticed, this is basically a junk yard build). Now I am in the process of building the intercooler piping and fenderwells. I'll try to post some pics Day I brought it home, everything was located in the bed 53 Frame stock independent front installed mock up, before the firewall was cut, fan was at the end of the frame 79 bed, or whats left of it Bed in the 53 box 12 bolt and relocated tank Roll pan to hide the tank
  4. Race season is starting up next month, so hopefully I'll be posting some times up. Last time at the track it decided to break both axles on the launch. We're all together though, ready to go. Working on my tow truck now though, building a 53 chevy 5 window with a 5.9 cummins. Hopefully I'll be done wit that soon enough to make it down in a couple months.
  5. Well I drove it yesterday to the local car show, I didnt even get out of it before being flocked around. (I also parked away from the main event) No, I didnt get on it though, I wanted to but I dont wanna draw attention yet.
  6. Pulled the turn signal, wiper/ headlight switch off a 78 280z at the local salvage yard yesterday. Played with my tester and got everything figured out so looks like i'll be using that. Fits column diameter perfectly, so should work nice.
  7. Well, workin on the wiring now. Has anyone swapped out there turn signal/dimmer switch for anything else? Im looking at one out of a Rx7 so that I can do the wiring properly, but seein if there is any common swap. Thanks.
  8. Well I am putting it together to drive on the street, they're not fun IMO when they're just track cars.
  9. Actually its a 76 Block im running cause it had the best oiling system of the for the Buick 455s. Im running Ta Performance aluminum heads, good weight saving, plus flows better then a fully ported/polished iron stage 1 head. The motor is built pretty well, 11.5:1 forged pistons, roller rockers, high rise intake, 850 quick fuel carb, decent cam. I can sneak pump gas in it too
  10. I'll try to put a video of the motor when I first started it. Not sure how well it'll work. This is from when the motor was in my 66 Buick Skylark. *Edit, ok cant figure that out. Here is the YouTube video.
  11. Let me try to load some, sorry im not a major computer person.
  12. Im running a ford 9inch so no worries on the rearend, sorry I do not know what a "oinc" is?
