  1. I sold my 280z and was having Datsun withdrawals, so my fiancé mentioned her friend’s dad had a Datsun of some sort. Fast forward a few weeks, and this little gem is in my driveway. 🙂 It’s in pretty original condition. Stock carburetor, 4 speed manual. It runs but the main jet of the carburetor is clogged. I think I’m just going to put a weber on it, some new tires, and daily it.
  2. I screwed this up big time. Never replaced an outter tie rod before, and my '78 280z needs em. First I saturated the lock nut in JB80 then I took a vice grip to it (didnt have the correct wrench) but it wouldn't budge. I tried heating it up with a torch-- wouldn't budge. So I moved on to the other side of the tie rod and removed the cotter pin and castle nut, and pounded the other side out. Tried to get the lock nut off some more and it wont budge. So now the nut is mangled, and the tie rod can't go back into the control arm, so I can't drive it to a shop. What the hell do I do now?
  3. Has anyone ever done a 4bbl + turbo mod? plus something like this chevy v8
  4. That is so cool! I'm extremely jealous. Everything about it is just A+. How much did you pay for it?
  5. I disagree about the reliability part. Carbs are 10,000 times more simple. I daily drive my carbed 280 and I barely ever touch the carbs. On the upside if you keep the fuel injection you could look into putting in a zx's turbo!
  6. Yeah rockauto is a collection of many different brands and such. Get rid of that fuel injection and throw some weber carbs on there!
  7. Went to a car show the other day. Couldn't find parking, so I decided to just enter it for shits and giggles. Got 2nd in the foreign car category :D
  8. Howdy howdy. I have a Z with harley motorcycle carbs. They've worked great for the last two years, but this year I tried starting it up in the coldcold minnesota winter and my inline fuel pressure regulator blew up. I replaced it with the exact same kind and set the pressure to 1lb of fuel. But now fuel is pouring out of both carbs like they're both getting way too much fuel. How can 1 lb be causing them both to overflow? I have a fuel return line for unused fuel that doesnt seem to be clogged. Don't know what to do at this point. Any suggestions?
  9. Unf. Black on white is extremely sexy.
  10. It's a 1978 MG Midget. Hasn't ran in two years. I tried to get it started but the carb started leaking fuel everywhere. Apparently it has a rebuilt engine. No major rust. Perfect interior minus the dash. Got it for $1000. It's a neat little car. I don't fit in it at all though. I'm 6'3, so my head is above the windshield. I'll have to wear goggles if I drive it! I just spent $250 on tune up parts. It's gunna be fun fun fun. :)
  11. Howdy folks. When I bought my 280z it was missing the highbeam switch for the headlights. When I turn the lights on, there's a light on the dash, which I assume means the highbeams are always on? I have no way to tell. Anyway, I don't know where to look. I'd like to install a simple switch to change between highbeams and lowbeams but I have no idea where to even start looking. Any suggestions?
  12. FYI, Napa filters are also made by wix, and their generic oil is also made by valvoline. Also, VR1 oil is great, but it's not synthetic. I used synthetic lubro molly + STP oil treatment because it has ZDDP
  13. Hello! I have a strange problem. My left blinker works, but not when the headlights are on. The right one always works. When I turn on the left blinker with the headlights on, the dash indicates that the left blinker is on, but doesnt blink, and the blinker itself isnt illuminated. What's wrong here?
