  1. I have it figured out. It is most likely my Turn Signal Relay. The lights are in the correct place now. Thanks. BTW, Green and Red = Turn signal / Red = Illuminators
  2. A little while back I did a boneheaded thing and reversed my battery terminals when reinstalling my battery. After fixing the fuse plug to the dash harness (melted down completely), I have an operating vehicle once again with some new items to tackle: 1. My Ammeter is now reading a positive charge continuously and spikes to about 15 Amps when the headlights are on. All other Electrical items discharge the Ammeter, as it should be. I am assuming that it took some damage, although all systems work normal. 2. My left turn signal operates normally, but my right turn signal does not. The right Turn Signal Relay clicks intermittently when activated. Fuse is intact. The Emergency signaling works fine, so I assume the right relay also has some damage as well (since it worked fine before the mistake.) 3. Lastly, and most concerning, my Dash Harness Fuse Plug attachment to my ignition switch starts to warm up after about 3 minutes of turning the engine on. I have never felt this before. It isn't blazing hot, but warm to the touch which increases slowly over time. Is this normal? Looking for answers Thanks, Steve
  3. I am re-attaching my turn signal and illuminator plugs to the back of my Tachometer, however I forgot to mark which male connections are attached to which female connections on the back of the instrument. As you guys know, two male connections have red wires, and two have alternating green and red wires. Which two are the illumination connections, and which two are the turn signals. Is there any specific order in which to put the connections in the back of the instrument? The reason I ask is that I was able to get one illuminator to work and the left turn signal, but nothing else. I found out through trial and error that they need to be grounded to the instrument in order for them to illuminate. Any help would be appreciated. Steve
  4. You called it KingRat. Found the fusible link attaching the starter motor to the dashboard connection. Melted straight through. It apparently has a part number 24018, A339 0, G69 T2... Appears the hot (thickest wire) is what burned through, which makes sense. I am assuming this connection is finished. So the question is, should the connection be tossed, or somehow reused? Spare connections?
  5. That makes the most sense. Sounds like a wire trace. I plan on taking the dash off anyways since it need to be recovered, so that would be a good time to "get into it" and figure it out. In any case, the alternator and Power Regulator are getting replaced. BTW, were fusible links stock to the 1970 1600s and 2000s? I did hear that the earlier Roadsters had issues with parts of the engine or dash bundles burning up. Thanks for the great advice guys!
  6. First off, love the smoke replacement kit. As for the car - the ignition was never engaged (thank goodness) when I encountered the smoke generation with the battery reverse connected. Here is where I am at with the battery connected the correct way: Battery checked OK. There is zero power to the car, headlights, etc. with or without the ignition engaged with the battery cable in the correct place. Acrid smell of burning under the dash (leads me to the Power Regulator possibly). Could have fried the alternator, but since it is 15 year old, might be time to replace it. Any guesses. Fortunately, no smoke with the cables correctly hooked up, since I have no power. I'll see if I can get a few pics out there Flatcat19
  7. I own a Datsun Roadster 1600 - Year 1970 - L20B motor So I did something incredibly stupid today. I placed the Positive on the Battery Negative Terminal, and vice versa just for a second or two. Realizing my mistake, I immediately removed the leads, and waited. There was some hissing near the headlight relay, some slight din of smoke, and the all to familiar smell of burning wire insulation. Question: I figured the battery is reversed and finished off. That is the least of my problems. What else could I lose: Power Regulator Relays Capacitor Any information is helpful Thanks, Priest
  8. I am looking for the Headlight Relay for a 1970 Datsun Roadster 1600. Are there any after market parts that are not $80 or higher? Any alternate brand that would suffice? Thanks, Steve
  9. Totally agree with the U16 and 20 oil feed line. Those are specific to the distributor on the Roadsters. My 1600 is modified with an L20B motor, so the oil feed line is not stock to the car. This is most likely another modification with the distributor mount dissimiliar as well. I will attempt to obtain some pictures.
  10. What would this part number be for an L20B 2.0 OHC Distributor Oil Feed Line. So far I have had two on this vehicle, one made of Teflon and the other made from copper tubing. Neither one held the seal really well so the distributor leaked a little bit. In any case, I need to be pointed in the right direction as to where I might be able to find this part. Thanks, Steve
  11. The title says it all. Need both the Center console glove box and the battery harness.
  12. Looking to buy a 1970 Datsun Roadster 1600 Center Console with Arm Rest. Any inquiries will help. Don't worry about condition. Thanks, Steve
