1. Heres the new bumper too: That's actually the the same guard i'm lookin for, one needs all the protection ya can get dealing the with mongoloid driver's around here, plus it just looks cool as hell. Rockauto's pretty great, they also have a grille and a hood on there i'll probably snatch up since my grille has some cracks and my hood has had some muffed up body work done to it. Stripped the front end and the interior this past week, and i found out that i gotta fix some softball sized holes on the pass. side floor board. Also managed to install the disc brakes and changed some front end parts, which went all too smoothly, minus the fact that i won't be able to test it out given that i can't afford tires for at least another month :D.
2. Farmer - PM sent! Here's a pic of the new valance, it's definitely worth it! http://i1282.photobucket.com/albums/a530/sedwick1739/20130330_225358_zps70053ddf.jpg
3. I appreciate the replies! And thanks Bilzbobaggins, went to Rockauto, snagged the valance, as well as a new replacement front bumper for less than 50 bones?! Mines kinda bend and pretty dinged up, was just gonna hammer it out, slap some paint on it and hope for the best. Also scored some brake shoe adjusters to replace mine that are seized. And Suspect, very interested, but I suppose I didn't quite think about the pain in the ass it would be to ship a roll bar...Is it a one piece roll bar?
4. thanks guys! Yeahhh, that twine around the wires oozes class, hell, that air cleaner's just sitting on the carb. On the bumpier roads you can hear it clankin' around against the hood sometimes. Really wish I could keep those stock wheels, I've always liked that look too, but with the disc brake conv, had to loose the 14's for 16's.
5. So here it is folks...my rattle-canned, turd-brown 620 (note: the extremely rad racing stripe). It's as basic as ya can get, short bed, 4-speed, L20b engine, with the optional cracked dash and cassette player that's wired directly to the battery! I bought this BM-colored gem from a guy and his kid out in the sticks near the end of last fall after nearly 1 1/2 years of searching for one to replace the 78' long bed 5 spd that I regretfully sold. I missed it like crazy and searched for another one nearly everyday. Of course a few junkers popped up, but I picked this one given that the engine was recently rebuilt (had paper work, etc,),along with a bunch of other new parts. It runs better than my old truck and the body's pretty dang solid too, haven't found a spec of rust through on it. OH and yeah, it actually had a title to boot. The bad: It's shit freakin' brown, (the factory originally went with a very exotic tan color), it's a 4-speed, and i ride on the highway 90% of the time so a 5 spd conversions in order, looks like the instrument bezel was beat with a tack hammer, I think the suspension system may possibly be made of wood or possibly even stone, the original interior was MIA (with some gnarly smelling cloth buckets from an 80's model godknowswhat that ALWAYS feel greasy now matter what i clean em with), the right-rear wheel cylinder is blown, shoes were gone(the left-rear setup is kinda new though...?), and all the Mcguyver'd wiring a guy could hope for. I love the crap out of it!!! :) About 2 weeks after i got it, she was parked at my dad's garage, gotta new SI which set me back quite a bit. Decided to get back to it when my tax refund came in. Aaaaand that came in two weeks ago. Started off with some new 16x8 rims, new shifter bushings, NOS wooden Datsun shift knob (the one that it came with was a big, hollow, tin 8-ball that was duct taped to the shifter, I'm not worthy of such badassness), new rear drum setup, Wilwood front disc conversion, 1 inch master cylinder, new Weber 32/36 conversion kit, ngk plugs + wires, and a few other odds and ends that i'm surely forgetting. Acquired some missing interior parts; package tray, shifter console, and a beautiful instrument bezel, all from a few kind people on this site. So basically, I just threw a bunch of money at some pretty new upgrades I've been drooling over with the hope that my ass will get this thing going sooner than later. Plans at this point are pretty vague, I'm just happy to have one. It definitely needed some front disc brakes, and I've been trying to hunt down a 5-speed with a mid to wide gear ratio that'll bolt right in. As far as paint and body goes, it'll be getting stripped bare over the next few weeks, and finished with some "Golf Yellow" paint that BMW 2002's sported back in the day. Line-x in the bed & rear bumper. ALL new wiring. Nothing too fancy under the hood yet, Weber 32/36, pedigree tune-up parts, some engine paint, and a good cleaning. Replacing all the interior panels and ditching the buckets for a bench (if i ever find one!). The tires/suspension choice is kinda tough, thinking about raising it an inch or two and going with some 235/70r16's? Not entirely sure yet what sort of suspension setup would be best to use with the 16x8's either. Any and all feedback, suggestions and hateful remarks are always appreciated! Can't wait to rip these greasy ol' buckets out! Started taking apart and cleaning the rear brakes today. Not too pretty at the moment. The Steelies that I went with, even managed to score some Datsun logo center cap stickers. My old 620... jeeze, look at that gorgeous front valance...
6. -I've been combing the bone-yards and craigslisting my heart out, but I still cant find a 620 bench seat with the center notched out. So If you have one ya' wanna hock, lemme know, i"ll take it! protruding springs and all! -Looking for a 5 spd tranny that'll bolt in, preferably something with a mid or wide gear ratio, but beggars cant be choosers i suppose. -Also searching for a roll bar for the bed and a brush guard as well, something kinda old skool? -And the longest of longshots, a snazzy, good looking front valance, mine's pretty beat up. Thanks in advance! - Nick
7. Good to know! Well it looks like i got a line on all those parts, thanks guys
8. Finally diggin' into my 620, so i thought i'd make another thread & see if anyone had the following stuff they might wanna hock Shifter console, Instrument bezel, package tray, door panels in good shape and most importantly, a stock bench seat, which doesn't have to look pretty, just functional. And i have to ditch that 4 spd for a five, i do wayyy too much freeway driving, would this tranny work with my current clutch, flywheel, driveshaft, etc.? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-Z-240Z-260Z-280Z-280ZX-Rebuilt-OEM-5-Speed-Transmission-Close-Ratio-/150966319919?hash=item23264b3b2f&item=150966319919&pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr
9. Hi! Haven't been on here in a long time, sold my old 620 last year and deeply regretted it, so i finally found another. WTB: Package tray, bench seat (doesn't have to be pretty, just all there), and the instrument bezel. If anyone can help with these i'd def appreciate it!
10. 77 620 for sale. I have to finish at least one project before this winter so i can ride something other than a motorcycle, so my trucks on the chopping block :(. Good: 5 speed, longbed, runs good, no leaks and the body's 99% rust free. The bad? Dent in right front fender, radio needs antenna to work, or just a new one altogether, engine timing's a bit off, and the front has new drums, shoes, hoses, wheel cylinders but they need to be adjusted cause they vibrate when you brake. All easy stuff, i just don't have the time lately. 98,xxxx miles and apparently that's original according to the guy i bought it from. $1400! msg me or call me at 918-853-1617 if interested, im located in tulsa, ok. 77 Datsun 620
11. Thanks for the replies! all i ever found from the import shops and chain auto stores were 3/8 in thread, which will not fit the chassis and the wheel cylinders as tuscon said, but i tried napa (who i never go to, way out of the way where i live and usually never had anything id be looking for) and low and behold they had em, both standard and metric. Tried other datsun model hoses but i ran into length issues. I'm just stoked i can drive it again.

13. Hello, this is my first post on Ratsun, I just did the front drums, shoes, wheel cylinders etc on my 620 and the hoses were shot. Since then I'm convinced Metric thread replacements simply to not exists. I've been to all the specialty shops in town, scoured the internet and almost ordered some from Singapore, but as it turns out they were SAE too. For the love of god, does anyone know where i can acquire these mystical, rare, seemingly unheard of replacement hoses?
