  1. Yeah, I don't know what the hell I'm doing..... I'm just sorta guessing at this point
  2. Well, I actually did something today...... not much, but it was something.
  3. Man, I'm definitly not feelin' the love from some of you :P I kinda figured this would ruffle some peoples feathers. All comments, positive or negitive are appriciated..... its all good. A few people have given me some ideas that I would have never thought of, such as the dually idea!!!! That has me doing some serious thinking and I even tracked down a Toyota dually rear axle just in case. I need to take some measurments and put some more thought into that idea. For now I'm going to continue in the current direction. I figured I would post up the picture I found that lead to the inspiration for this hack job ;) First, here is the picture as I found it on the internet. A nice clean longbed slammed on its nuts. I liked the truck, but I just wasn't feelin' the longbed. So, I started playing with MS Paint and this picture and here is what I came up with. And well...... you know what happened next. I hope this will allow some of you to get a better perspective of what my vision for this truck is. For those of you that still don't like it..... well, I just found this smiley face that seems appropriate :fu: And once again, thanks for all the welcomes people.
  4. I just wasn't feelin' the whole long bed thing at first...... now I'm kinda missing it. I was going for something different and I think I might have cut a little too much off  It looked cool when I chopped it on MS Paint...... oh well. I'm still going to hold out hope that I can make this work somehow. Man, I keep looking back thru the pictures and I can't help but laugh and wonder what the hell was I thinking. I think I may have just come up with another brilliant idea!!!! This is gonna be all bad :P Okay, I might have more surprises in store. I'm off the go play with MS Paint again....... wait, thats how this all went bad in the first place. Anyways, thanks for the welcomes to the forum.
  5. So that is where I'm at. After I put the tailgate back on and tacked the lower section back on I wasn't quite as freaked out about what I had done. Still not sure about my brilliant idea. I need to lower it and build a rollpan, maybe then it won't be so bad. Worst case I can convert this one to 4 wheel drive and go get my short bed and build it. Tell me what you think..... feel free to tell me I am a retard :D It wouldn't be the first time and won't be the last. Here is what I am used to working on. One of my other current projects.
  6. Yeah, about the long bed thing........
  7. I can't just keep things simple........ so I decided to do something stupid. I decided to bring a little bit of the rock crawling world to the mini truck world, it seemed like a good idea at the time. I have a tendancy to do things before I put the proper amount of thought into something, this being a perfect example. In rock crawling we look for a really good departure angle for when we drop off of rocks and stuff, that way way we don't get hung up on the bed or bumper. To achive this we bob our beds....... once again, it seemed like a good idea at the time :P For anyone who does not quite know what bobbing a bed consists of, well..... here are some pictures. Playing with tape so I could figure out how much to take out. I just wasn't feelin' the whole long bed thing. The point of no return.... I was commited now. 19 1/4" gone. Lots of tacking. Here is when I was starting to wonder what the hell I had just done......
  8. First off, let it be stated that I have no clue as to what I am doing  I am going to cut and hack up a perfectly good little truck and do bad things to it cause....... well, thats what I do. I am a 4x4 kinda guy, mainly into rock crawling. I build trucks and then beat the dog piss out of them. However, I decided recently that I needed to try something new. I've always liked mini trucks. I was over at a friends house awhile back and he had a '72 regular cab shortbed 620 sitting there. No motor, body was a little ruff, and the c notch was kinda a hack job...... I decided I needed it :D Well, its mine after agreeing to do some fab work for him on another truck, I just haven't gone a picked it up yet. Sortly after that another buddy of mine aquired a '74 regular cab long bed 620. I decided I needed that one too. Traded a Ford Tempo, derby car that cost me an $82 Best Buy gift card, for it. This is the one I am working on at the moment. I am not sure exactly what direction I am going to go with this truck. I was planning on just lowering it, cleaning it up, maybe painting it, and then just drive it. I have a problem with keeping things simple though, I always end up doing things the hard way for some stupid reason  This is how it looked when I got it home. Fairly straight, no huge dents....... just in need of a little minor body work here and there, and a windshield of course.
