  1. I love the Audi TT seats. I have a 02 and they heat up SOO fast in the cold. I am going to try and get a pair of them for my 72 510. I feel odd about it though because of the side air bags. plus they are both actually manual powered with sliders.
  2. How did you mount them in their, I see MDF but whats that screwed too?
  3. Just curious, Im sure this is bound to piss someone off but it also looks like it will work with a Ford 302 small block? They are front sump.   4. If were talking daily drivers here, How hard is it for your 240 to pass emissions? Your 510 doesnt have too so build it. Stupid Government which I work for doesnt want you to have fun why play their game, just build your 510 and keep the 240 for going to work and back.
  5. A neighbor of mine who owns a 72 510 has a set of SU carbs for $100 bucks. Where can I source a rebuild kit for them? If they dont come with a manifold is it still a good deal, and if they dont, any one got one for sale? They will be going on a L18 with a header. Thanks for everyones help.
  6. I do appreciate the input. What cam would you recommend? I would like the higher RPMs. I plan on doing a Custom intake manifold with Motorcycle carbs. My Dad had the setup on his 68 Corolla. He said it was amazing and now the current Cycle carbs have built in linkage. Also Honestly, I have never been able to find Rocker arms for it either. Are their such thing as roller rockers and roller cam for the Datsun? Who should I call or what web site? Thanks!
  7. I tried searching this in a previous thread, I didn't find what I was looking for. I have a A87 head on my L18. I have blown my head gasket. I would like to get head work done while the head is off the block. Through personal decisions I do not want to put a L20 in my car because the bottom end is just fine. I have called a local Datsun shop and he basically told me that any porting or larger valves would be foolish, granted most of the time my car will be street driven and it is a daily driver. I asked him about the BRE cars and how Ive read that all of the power is in the head on the L series motors in four cylinder form. He said that is correct but its made with a cam not valves. Ive read so many posts and threads here I know their are some smart guys on line here. Is this info true? Regardless if it is. What size valves can be machined into this A87 head? Also, What machine shop should I go to that has the knowledge of what is the correct port size and valve size. I live in Gresham. Thanks for every ones feedback. To me your knowledge is priceless.
  8. Why isn't it passing DEQ? Does it have a cat if it needs one? It should say in the engine compartment. Try a bottle of rubbing alcohol to a full tank of gas.does it have a weber? I live in Gresham. How much for just the motor?Complete.
  9. Ive worked for the State of Oregon for nine years. We have the Weakest Union their is When the State realized they were breaking a huge contract with all of their Limited Duration people like me who should have only been employeed for six months but was for two years, they decided to hire all females first, all married men second and then I barely got in their as a permanent employee because I was single. I was hired three months before the deadline or else I would have been SOL. The reason they hired in that order is so no one would have the guts to strike! So now we barely anything but we get free health care. Now that I'm married yes I'm thankful but our Union is so so weak they put in the contract that we will Not Strike. If your wondering, I work for DEQ and I test your cars. So I will do my best to be friendly and professional when Yall come in to see me but I don't take no shit! Good luck on the job hunt. Go to your states employment office and meet with a representative. Tell them your skills and also your interests. They will find you a job because its their job to do so. <>
  10. Thanks for the advice on the cylinder head. All I know is I cant drive it like this much longer.
  11. I have recently blown my head gasket or I have a couple burnt valves. The number on my head which is on an L18 says, A87. Is this a good head to build up or should I look for a new motor and swap out the whole thing? Anyone have a head for sale or a L20 for sale? I have cash. I could also really use some good solid advice.
  12. I had a similar problem wth my L18. Come to find out it was running way lean and the vaccum line from the carb to the distributer was at the wrong vacc port and so it was always at full advance. I changed the vacc port on the carburator drilled out the jet on the Weber and its absolutly amazing how much better it ran. If you have a vaccum gauge check it out, it sounds as though you have it figured out. Probably totally different situations.

  14. Well I cant deny it, a KA would run a lot better than my stock L18. I guess I just dont want what every one else in town has in their 510, there just a bit too boring to me. Just my opinion. I knew it would be big bucks to do the 510 thing, or I should say Live the 510 thing. Why not go all out? I just dont believe that "All out" has to cost me thousands to pay to someone else that learned it from someone else, why not just learn it myself! Why are you so big into the KA? I heard its just about the same wiring as a SR, same mount up and all right? I just want a motor that already has a factory turbo.
  15. Im looking to swap in a SRdet into my 72 510. Im just concerned about motor and tranny mounts. I really want it right but I dont believe the right way is to pay a speed shop $3000 to install it for me. Anyone know how to part and piece it into a 510? I was told that my lower motor mount and a 240sx upper mount will work? So then what about trans mount? Any way to use a 240sx mount in my car or modify my own 510 trans mount? Some ones gotta have the answers, and please if you got pics lets see those too.
