  1. I'm pretty sure I put the gas in the vacuum hose. When it died on the freeway (one of the points broke in half), I assumed it was out of gas, because my fuel gauge is finicky with a failing voltage regulator. When I put gas in and the truck didn't start, I poured a splash down the carb. A helpful motorist stopped to help and also poured some gas down the carb, so the reason why there is gas in the vacuum hose is user error.
  2. I've got a 1970 521 with dual points. After a recent breakdown on the freeway, i got the truck running again with new points, condensers, cap, rotor, and wires. After the tune-up it had a rough idle and was sluggish at low rpm. If I could get it to a high enough rpm it started to run better. Today I took the vacuum advance off, and it immediately began to drip fuel. I was able to squirt most of the fuel out by pushing on the plunger. While I wait for the rest of the fuel to evaporate, I thought I would post and ask for your thoughts on this. Will gas in the vacuum line cause the problems I described? Will gas ruin the diaphragm in the vacuum advance? Thanks
  3. I've got an L16 intake manifold taking up space in my garage. I'll gladly sell it.
  4. I will definitely be there. After all the time I had to waste trying to find a new starter, I need to get out and drive my truck!
  5. I have L16 intake and exhaust manifolds sitting in my shed. Intake is in good condition; exhaust is in functional (sh*tty) condition.
  6. I have an intake and exhaust for a L16. Exhaust needs some bolts drilled out. Intake is in good condition. Price would be gas money for delivery from renton, or free if you want to pick up in renton.
  7. My 521 uses DOT 3. DOT 3 & 4 are compatible, DOT 5 is NOT compatible with the other two.. Mixing DOT 5 with the other fluids can cause brake failure. -former parts monkey(means nothing, I worked with a lot of idiots)
  8. Thats the same thing I did on my Honda. Hasn't ben a problem since i did it 5 years ago.
  9. If a thermostat housing from an L16 will work, I have an extra.
