  1. Parts in tenino? Is the frame still attached to the underside of the hood? Are the rest of the sheet metal parts pretty straight/ cancer free? This is my first ever attempt at any kind of paint/body, been watching lots of youtube videos haha . Stuffs a little tight right now and I'll probably have to hold off on the harness and cluster until a later date, sorry.
  2. Awesome guys! thanks for the fast reply. Start throwing out some prices when ya know what you want! Also looking for an underdash harness, window felts and a gauge cluster now that I think of it
  3. Ok, thanks. I did see the tail light panels on ebay, priced fair but the shipping is awful high. Makes a guy think twice about a roll pan.
  4. Hey guys- Took the cowl off today and discovered there is no hope of saving the hood hige mount on the passenger side of the truck. Wondering if anyone has a set or even a single hood hinge with the mount that is usable. Also in the market for a hood, cowl, both front fenders, the sheet metal that holds the tail lights (for lack of a better name) and a piece of rocker panel from the driverside KC area (slim chance, haha). I'm just outside of Seattle. Thanks
  5. http://youtu.be/4P6YYxwyn7M Anybody know what wheels these are? I'm not sure I've seen them before this video. Thanks Ooops, maybe those are just titans painted black between the spokes?
  6. Hey guys- Wondering if anyone has come up with some make shift window felts for the 620s and what they used? I came across one thread about using a 4runner back window felt for the outer but that was about it. Looking to start driving the 620 for a commuter soon and it has way too many rattles! Thanks
  7. Dash bulbs are good and the ground wrie (pin 11) does not read open. Any other ideas?
  8. Thanks! I do remember chasing the ground for the cluster at some point but don't remember my findings. How about checking the ground wire continuity?
  9. Anyone? I've run out of ideas Could an electrical spike send the gauge cluster TU?
  10. The knob is all the way to the right. Any other ideas? Interesting about the cable. It moves in and out with the knob
  11. Hey guys- I've been having a tough time figuring out why there are no dash lights in my 79 620. All running lights work but there are no lights in the dash/heater controls/wiper knob. Both the green/blue (pin 4) and green/black (pin 2) at the gauge cluster 12 pin plug have power and the blubs in the gauge cluster look good too. The green/blue wire leaving the headlight switch is good as well. The stock tach or clock was removed and replaced with an auto gauge unit so the 6 pin plug has been abandoned. I see there are a few wires that jump over to the gauge cluster. Would they have any effect on the illumination of the entire dash? Let me know what you think, thanks!! PS-What function does the black wire/cable coming out of the rear of the headlight switch serve? I think I saw one on the wiper switch too iirc
  12. I swear its never ends!! The charging situation has been resolved with a 1/2" shorter belt of the proper width. The alternator was slipping quietly so to speak and was covered with black rubber dust to prove it. I drove the truck to work today and although its a little better over all with the new u-joints and trans bolted down its still safe to say the driveshaft is way out of balance. Or maybe a potential pinion angle problem, either way it shakes like a bitch anywhere above 45. 6 Blocks from home the truck died and refused to start. It would fire then die and the starter was cranking strong the whole time. Having just put fuel in the truck the day of purchase, I figured there was no way I ran it dry but since the electric fuel pump changed tone I pushed it off to the side of the road and went for gas. To my surprise, it only took 3 gallons of fuel before it started running out of the filler neck...Then it fired right up. So what gives? Is a broken or cracked pickup tube common in these trucks? As for the electrical, the fuse box has been returned to its original state after some serious out of position soldering, haha. The PO really didn't leave me much to work with coming out of the fuse box. Next problem is no dash lights or low beams. The plug under the passenger side dash got real hot at some point and burnt a few pins. Those pins have been bypassed with new sections of wire but its all pretty suspect. All head light wires test good to that point and the high beams/passing will light both head lights on the passenger and one on the driver. Hopefully it has something to do with the dash lights as well. A project for another day
  13. Great post! How does the freebie pulley compare to the stock one in size? Can a stock pulley be used?
  14. Well, I spent the better part of the day working on the truck and made a tiny little bit of progress... Got the new u-joints in but it was a battle from start to finish. Starting with the discovery of only about 1/8" of forward travel for the slip yoke! I guess the truck is so low combined with the bullshit drive shaft someone installed the slip yoke runs right into the tailshaft housing of the trans. With compression of the rear suspension the shackles should move the rearend away, its the rebound I'm worried about. 1/8" was not enough for the pinon yoke pilot to clear the pinion shaft/nut so that was a pain as was going back in. I'd rather ride it out and forward the cost of shortening the driveshaft towards a KA. Next, there were NO bolts through the trans cross member into the trans mount:blink: As for the u joint themselves, it took a press, a grinder and heat to complete. Later I replaced a suspect fuel line coming from the tank to the electric pump on the frame rail. Probably wasted $6 of fuel on the ground (prices these days :P) fighting the siphon or head pressure or whatever caused fuel to pour endlessly out of the draw tube. Rookie move haha Next time a friend has a "good running" for cheap, I'll think twice.
  15. FSM POs? I ordered a used Haynes manual off amazon for 50 cents but did also stumble across the diagrams on olddatsuns. Blew those suckers up to 200% and got after it!
