O_O WANT! Good God I don't know how feasible it is, but I'm just picturing that thing in my head with a little VW TDI in it. It'd be the ultimate beach ride.

I've looked all over and never found a 510 wagon, but there is a 411 in Orlando on Craigslist (if you'd be willing). http://orlando.craigslist.org/car/634074021.html Doesn't look too bad from the pics provided, but then again who knows what the rest of it looks like.

Yeah that sounds like I should fit without a problem then, thanks for that. I did consider the LD28, but I figured the VW would be more available for both engine and parts, more powerful, and probably get me better mileage. I'm sure it'd be more difficult, but I think that in the end it'd be the wiser move.

I've been lurking here for a while now, and I've come up with a few questions I haven't found answers to (maybe I'm bad with search though). Rat-rods have always been my absolute favorite style ride, and while the 510 has always been a dream, and after seeing fisch's drawing of the 411 goon, I absolutely fell in love. Thing is, I'm a pretty big dude (6'3" and anywhere between 225 and 245), would this be too small for me? My other question is about the engine. I'm a huge fan of diesels, and I'm not looking for something to make me crap my pants when I hit the go pedal, so I've been keeping an eye on the VW TDIs a bit also... any chance one would fit in the bay?
