  1. Pics are delayed. Main pc crashed just before I went out of town. And old lptop too slow. My medical, my wife`s medical.etc. 1981model 720 king cab 4x4, 97,000 miles, was my daily driver, still Could be, if needed. Was a barnyard squatter for awhile . Carb New, Front wheel bearings New where needed, balljoints new, lights 're-rewired" with new wire, fuse holders and bulbsockets as Needed and auxiliary lights added. Home welded spare tire, light and two-way radio-antenna rack..roof rack. Asking $3000 with extra set of oversize tires. Goodyear Wrnglr 235 - 75 x 15 only rolled 3000 miles. Front scrubbers. 215 x 15 mounted on wheels now, with 2 spare tires. Nissan shop and Haynes service manuals and misc spare Parts , Send pm if interested. Ratsun post first. Later I will list locally And craigalist. Near Reno Nevada can negotiate or trade.
  2. I have a want and a need for an auto tranny truck but have this 81 5 speed manual with no power steering. I have the use of my right hand only, so the easy way is to sell. Anyone interested in what has been my daily driver for the last year and a half.......... I've done extensive re-rewiring. yes re-rewiring in the cab, done before. I haven't been on here long and haven't figgured how to post photos here, but have them.
  3. Now Thanks to me seeing the plot-line here I snapped a couple pics too and there are dangling wires. Where do those suckers go. . . . . ? Looks like the lead from the distributor is not connected. Hum. I wonder if the timing advance is not working after-all....Could help pep.! Back to the schematics for me too.
  4. Glad you got your horn working there. I'll pot some photos of the dash and consoule. The second night my 81 720 sat out front it looked like someone was tring to drive it off. I went outside, the doors were all loked, but the headlights were on. When I shook the door to try the locks the lights went out. . . duh. Inside the combo switch the contacts were so corroded I opted to do something similar. Toggle switch for parking-running lights, toggle switch for headlights, lowbeam, toggle switch....well you get the picture. The key starts and locks the wheel and the wipers work fine. Everything else has NAPA switches or momentary buttons. All in All I think I dId a fair one-handed nAsCar-wiring-harness.
  5. Why break-out a welding machine to weld clips just to hang leaf-springs on.?.?.? I found my 81 after it rested for 7 - 8 years. The wrench who did the carb-work did some work for me. He told me while it was there he "drug it out of 14 inches of sand and weeds with his wrecker-truck to take it to his shop. Built the carb' and dropped in a new battery. Put some gas-O-line on top the carb and it fired right up. Oh yea. It was there because I didn't pull the front hubs off "before paying for it." Missing lock-splines, VeRy wOrN bearings etc. I pondered a solid axel, for a few moments. Then it would just be a yote or sneep grangler. I was patient, looked near and far., found all but one little peice needed to re-establish the inDePendent axels. A local drive-line-specialty shop provided the only bearing I was not patient-enough to locate as a nissan omf part. Now 3200 miles later it's still skipping right along. PS I draind the gas-tank and rinsed, but still need to replace fuel filters about every 350-or-400 miles. There are now 4 in series. Man is norther Nevada's dust fine or what. Filter changes have stretched out-a bit from 100 -150 miles. PSS Congratulations on the 720 find and grab dot-sun lover. Don't try to use 235-75 15 tires unless you like round edges. That's another story, learned the hard-way.
  6. Any comments on the voltage issue I posted earlier..? I still question if my internal regulator is not too high. I had swaped for a higher amp alt. Started popping fuses.etc
  7. I pulled the 70's something craig cassette player and shoved in an O'Riely $10.85 clearance cassette model in the same hole, ALMOST. I had to take a bastard-cross-cut file to the inside of the box. I have only the use of my right hand so I got tired and left the "new sound-box" stick-out about an inch. It's an ugly install....to say the least.
  8. About the same time you were having your no-charge issues I swapped out my old working alternator for a new high-er Amp one. Fuses started popping to the electronic control box on my 81KC-4x4. Voltage on digital cigerate lighteer moniter was 14.6 to 14.8 float, when running. Out with the new in with the old. It now floats around 13.6 to 14.4....but fuses arent popping. I had replaced the fuse with a circuit breaker. This saved a bucket of fuses, I'm shure. This same fuse circuit included the electrical fuel pump. I "nascar wired" a single power circuit for the fuel pump at the same time. Are both alternators regulating voltage a little high.....?
  9. As an "old fart" newkid. . . . . . . What is a KA truck you mentioned above...? I have an 81 720 that may need alternator work...minor or major. Disability sucks. I will need to "special order" a new alternator if major. The rubber boot connector on the back for a "T" was loose. Now gone, but with crimp-on connectors (2) underneath. My local wrench tested the charging system with his test meter, but it was jumping all-over. It was jumping from 17-18 volts down to 10 -11. I hit the highbeams and it did not flatline or dump. Do you have a napa part number for the connectors ?
  10. Found all the bearings and extras needed to get me rolling again. Thanks for having this site . . ! Skip.
  11. I have been on here since I took in a 1981 720 king. This may take a-while to get into show condition.... nope just a mover. . . . . operational is more than looks. pic, if x x x when x x x . . . I can get it patched
  12. Farmer of Faith on Amazon (?) had a Nissan manual I got for $9 including shipping last month. He had more OEM stuf, there from Tulsa Oklahoma. Dont know if he had any more Nissan.
  13. Thanks to all who looked! EDIT: Now that I got the Alternator dealt with, and did both sets of Ball joints, the Tranny sync went out this morning! LOL!! I can't win! I need to find that 81-82 720 4x4 with a blown engine that must be out there........... If you find the "pieces parts truck" out there let me know if it has any good front axels assemblies. Thanks for the cross breed info. edit - edit I found Nissan parts that are "no-longer avaliable" from several sources. My front axel is back rolling. Ironicly . . . . my oil-filter change last week developed into diagnostics for a no start. I fumbled the wiring and pulled the starter harness off. I didn't know that untill a local wrench found the loose wire. During the oil change I heard crackling around the back of the alternator and found a "loose" wire. It was still in place but not making secure contact. I repaired the connector and finished the filter. When I "attempted" to start the engine for leak-check, that's when I found the no-start condition. If anyone is looking for 4x4 parts I have a list of sources, maybe it could help you. Skip.
