    My 71 521

A few pics of the hardbody seat. May not be the best way to mount it but it was easy and seems to work pretty well. Excuse the dirt.....haven't taken the time to give it a cleaning yet. lol 200sx internally regulated alternator Removed the old purple window tint Also put a 620 electronic distributor in it which made a huge difference. Really happy with how it's coming along so far.

I do still have them and they are in good shape but I want to hang onto them for the time being. If I get rid of them I will shoot you a pm. Jon

The seat was really easy to put in. I drilled the spot welds and removed the original brackets from the floor. I also removed the front "feet" from the hardbody seat and bolted a small section of 1.5" square tubing in place. Put the seat in and welded the tubing to the floor. The rear "feet" sat flat on the floor so I just drilled a couple of holes and through bolted them. It sits just a little lower than the stock seat and is a great fit. Plus it has the cutout in the center like alot of toyotas which is nice in case I need the room when I put a 5 speed in it. I'll post a pic of it when I get a chance. It's blue so it doesn't match the truck at all but it's all I could find at the u-pull it yard and is way better than the factory seat that I pulled out. I'll either get it recovered or replace it when I come across a black or grey seat. Jon
  6. Thats a great looking setup.

    My 71 521

I picked up this 521 last year locally off of craigslist. Had been sitting in someones back yard for a while....didn't run and some of the brakes were locked up. I've been into Datsuns/Nissans for years and when I saw this I just had to have it. Since then I've got it running pretty well, put disc brakes all around, aluminum Fiero radiator, hardbody bench seat, lowered 2 inches, and put on a set of newer chevy truck 17" steel wheels. It's a neat little truck.....haven't seen any others in town yet. I'll try to update after I make more progress with it. A few before pics..... And how it looks now...
  8. Awesome work! I'm not one to follow build threads but I will be watching this one! lol Are those 16" passport/ rodeo wheels on the truck before the titans?
  9. Nothing like that. Just the basic ground control coilovers with tokiko adjustables and an r200 LSD. Doesn't really squat much even on the softest setting on the shocks. Never really seen s30's with squatting problems. Z31's on the other hand....... :) I can't take credit for the fuel door. It was on the car when I bought it back in 2000. I believe it is from a cbr 600.
  10. LOL. Traction management? Mickey Thompson drag radials. My street tires are also my race tires. I just don't drive it in the rain. They are only 235-60-15's but it cuts 1.40 60 ft on them. Hooks great on the street too.
  11. Thanks guys. Here's a few more pics of the Z and also a few videos. Best time so far has been a 9.69 @ 144 mph on a race gas mix and 235 drag radials. Thats also on a 100% stock internalled long block. Best time on straight pump gas in street trim is 10.4 @ 135. It's still a great streat car and gets almost 20 mpg with no overdrive. http://www.streetfir...bra_2048657.htm (mine is at the end)
  12. Maybe you can post a video of that Z, that would be sweet.

  13. Hello. Been lurking for a while after picking up a 71 521 and really like the site. I've been messing with Nissans/Datsuns for about 15 years and run a shop specializing in Z cars. I also have a 78 280z with an rb25 and th350 and a mostly stock 300zx TT. The 521 the day I picked it up.....in need of some love. No current pics but now it's lowered 2 inches, different wheels, ditched the nasty mirrors, and did lots of cleaning. Brakes are shot so next thing will be a disc conversion all around. Jon
