  1. yepp.. just got it around march-april.. spur of the moment, needed to fill some extra time.. but now.. i have nothing close to extra time.. and nothing close to extra money either..
  2. so i am selling my project.. i don't have the money or time to get her where i want, so it's gotta go.. just trying to get what i spent on it back.. or at least something close.. boo :( 1972 Datsun 510 station wagon. DMV verified 9900 miles on this car. swapped to L20B engine (30K original miles) with Weber 32/36 progressive carb. and smog delete (no smog pump, no exhaust manifold tubes, more power!) 5 speed dogleg trans. OEM roof rack in near excellent condition. one side has a small dent. has all original door panels except missing passenger front, hatch, and passenger side cargo area. steel 4 spoke rims from 200SX 92 Honda Prelude bucket seats in front very good condition, original bench in back that folds forward and collapses for more cargo area. previous owner had rear bench seat wrapped in some weird black material. previous owner also spray painted the dash board and steering wheel (see pictures) just recently cut and balanced driveshaft. new clutch & slave cyl. new brake master cylinder. new distributor with Pertronix kit w/ ballast resistor new timing chain, tensioner and guides new valve cover gasket, timing cover gasket, oil pan gasket new waterpump and electric fan. new aluminum 3 row radiator. new cooling/heating hoses. new GM single wire alternator. (no more 4 wire voltage regulator mess!) new transmission mount. new battery. new shiftknob. lol new tires. (less than 200 miles on them) new windshield and seal. new electric fuel pump. gas tank was JUST acid dipped and coated to protect from rust. new 2" lowering blocks in the rear. just installed 2" exhaust w/ monza tip. registered till Feb 2012. PRE SMOG! no need to worry about emissions! all original class with no cracks or chips, except for the brand new windshield being an aftermarket replacement. i cleaned her up SIGNIFICANTLY. fuel gauge and temp gauge work without problem. when i first got the car the wire harness in the engine bay was just a ball of wires sitting in one corner.. i unraveled, cut and re-wired, insulated, and reattached everything back to original according to the factory wire diagram. all the stupid little electrical shortcuts someone did are GONE. this harness, i would say, is in good condition, now. everything works electrically, mechanically, and is road ready. things to note: passenger side door panel, passenger side cargo panel, and hatch interior panel are missing. have all 4 original seatbelts, male and female, but one shoulder strap has been cut- passenger front. all door locks, handles, and windows work just fine, but the key will only lock and unlock the rear hatch (until you have the lock cylinders rebuilt for about $40) most of all the weather stripping/window seals are aged. typical, but something to keep in mind. all body lines are straight, though you can tell this car has had bondo work. drivers front fender has had bodywork, just missing paint to match on less than 1/4 of the fender. pictures available. the factory side markers were covered with bondo as well, but whoever did it didn't do it right, so you can see where it's breaking free from the body. no big significant dents, the body is actually pretty good compared to alot of other 510s i've seen here on CL. speedo cable is not connected (too short for the 5speed) SURFACE RUST ONLY, NO CANCER/ HOLES Pink Slip in Hand. i can take more pictures if you want.. just ask asking 4k, but make an offer. never hurts to ask :) considering trades as well..
  3. DAMN yo.. 600 bones? w/ a CRAB rebuild?! fkn killerdeal right herre. sorry i'm an ass.
  4. new timing chain, guides, tensioner, seals, and gaskets.. this was just at the beginning of the breakdown.. body/paint at the end of the month! but i gotta get my flared fenders, valence and rear flares before then.. anyone wanna donate? lol ugh.. and the front suspension.. i love projects but have recently developed this sense of being torn between spending money and saving it.. guess that's a good thing because i LOVED uncontrolled spending and throwing my money into the hands of everyone but my own..
  5. Doing it tomorrow at work.. We will see what's up.. If something major is wrong (which shouldn't be) I'm going sr.. Haha.. I hope so.. But I don't hope so at the same time. It would be awesome but money spending isn't.. Lol.. Gracias para the encouragement
  6. Quick update: rebuilt the carb.. Ended up not being my problem, but for 30bucks I didnt mind putting the time into rebuilding.. It was a quick on and off.. Turns out my cap and wasn't firing #2 and #3 so replaced that and the rotor.. Good to go.. Oh, wait, yeah, forgot to mention my timing troubles.. Kept setting it and i would have to reset it out of no where.. Timing chain- too much play.. Fml.. Everytime I fix one thing, something else pops up.. I'm waiting for this period/cycle to end.. So depending on what's wrong w my motor.. Perhaps a swap would be in order? Lol.. $$$$$$ damn... I just wanna be on the road with a mean n nasty stance.. Too much to ask for? The wagon seems to think so..
  7. Fast720- thanks alot. Brake lights? Check! Fixer- you got pm H2theizzo- vacuum is perfect, timing is at 10degrees, and idle screw is the only thing keeping it running.. Got a weber rebuild kit so I'm going to do that as soon as I get some time away from the lady and work.. (next week?) any other suggestions? I figure I'll tackle the carb first then if I still have a problem, maybe I have a problem w my distributor? I don't think so tho, my timing has been dead on since I set it at 10.. That was my sweet spot.. By chance anyone know the original jet sizes were for a weber 32/36 when u buy it for an L20b setup? Thanks for all the help/advice guys.. Great community :)
  8. got my hood release cable and new(to me) radio surround.. w/ ashtray and lighter.. :) fkn black lungs over here.. :P kind of stuck right now.. carb (Weber32/36) doesn't seem to be doing well.. my mixture screw is turned all the way in and it idles pretty decent, and WOT feels pretty good (for the first couple miles).. but cruising and easy to medium acceleration and it bogs/sputters.. i'm pretty sure i'm rich if my mixture screw is all the way in, so does this mean i re-jet? or re-build? i was pretty sure it was just a jetting issue, but i went to a carb shop i'm friends with and the guy's telling me to re-build.. hmm.. sounds like he's tryin to make a buck.. any suggestions? oh and those two screw things just above the intake manifold i kinda understand that the one closest to the head would be turned in more in comparison to the one that sits on the outside away from the head.. right? cuz fuel coming out closest to the head has less distance to travel vs. the one on the outside, which has to travel that much more inside the intake manifold.. yeah? haha.. someone tell me if i'm wrong but i think i got it.. jets? btw.. anyone who is paying attention to this (lame for now) build thread, does anyone have a front valence they can let me have/buy/? whatever the meterial doesn't matter to me... but mine is FKD up.. and i am realizing how much more a car is to work on vs. motorcycles and scooters.. hahaha.. so body, weatherseals, windowseals, & front suspension would be next after i finish with my carb issue.. i'm slowly accepting the fact that to get my front end done the way i want it's a minimum of 900 clams.. jesus.. donations? hahahaha edit: forgot to metion, if i turn out the mixture screw more than 1/8-1/4 turn, RPM drops and engine wants/will die..
  9. I got the wire diagramst hrough work. So I'm set there.. Unfortunately, the factory diagram i have doesn't tell me what color the wires running to the brake switch are.. That and I seem to have a green/red and green/yellow wire that don't have a home..
  10. came from El Monte.. i suppose that's e. LAish.. i think before it was in el monte it was in cerritos or some city that started w/ a C. pics since i've gotten the wagon..and done a little here and there.. tires, front bumper, roof rack, windshield, cleaned up the interior, new dashpad cover, cut shifter ~6" and got a shiftknob, Aluminum Radiator& elec. fan, elec. fuel pump, 2" lowering blocks, $9.50 Pepboys Mirror, temporary till i order a fender mirror.. rewired engine bay, cleaned up the Fkd up mess behind the dash w/ all the shitty rigged up, crossed over, spliced here and there wires..fk. all that time and still don't have my brake lights working.. (anyone know the colors of the two wires the brake switch plugs into?) trust me, this picture makes the dash actually look decent for being green and white.. let me reassure you, it does NOT look like that in person.. it very much looks like someone used a rattle can for everything.. even the steering wheel itself.. which would be ok, if the ring was made of a hard material..but it's not.. feels a lil rubbery.. still deciding on my front end.. suggestions? and FK i need find someone willing to go over the body work.. whoever did the bodywork previously was seriously UNtalented. or UNpaid. sidemarkers were closed up w/ bondo only, along w/ the vents on the rear hatch below the glass, and original roofrack holes.. motherfuckers ripped out one of the screws for the roofrack apparently.. cuz i was installing the roofrack i had got yesterday and there's a dime sized hole bondoed and painted over at the passenger front mounting point. cheap asses. now i have to fork out the dough (or trade work!) to weld/grind and smooth this bucket to decency. any local guys in SoCal wanna suggest a good spot? and by good i mean descent, because good costs an arm and a testicle. ok that's enough byoochit for now.
  11. Thanks man.. Appreciate the awesome rack!
  12. Hi all, here's my build thread.. (or start of it at least) and a little background to begin with: i'll start w/ the Dime info and pictures, because most of us can't stand to read the BS some people write about themselves (see below).. hahahahahahah wanted to get a new project, and decided the 510 had been calling my name long enough- 1972 510 Wagon- GHETTORIGGED i rushed into buying it and kinda got stuck w/ some headaches.. pics first: UP FOR SALE So current Rides: 1972 Datsun 510 Wagon (in progress) 2008 Honda Ruckus- 180cc bigbore motorswap, lowered, stretched, beautified 2006 Special Contstruction "pro-stock chopper' 100ci, 6spd, 3"primary, a few other goodies
  13. so i got me a 72 510 Wagon and i'm in the process of getting my "stance"..this is one of my first posts.. but i've been reading quite a bit and have KIND of decided the direction i want to go.. i'm wanting to stick w/ 13x6, 13x7 or 14x6, 14x7 as far as wheel size, and some yokohama A048s catch my attention pretty good.. wanting fatty-er rubber so a 60 series? maybe? 50 if i'll have clearance problems.. so on to my WTB... i'm lookin for a set of 280zx struts already shortened, hopefully complete w/ inserts & springs & anything else i need to get going..o i can just bolt right up n drive.. if anyone has.. let me know.. also looking for suggestions as to what i should do in the rear.. i have 2" blocks ready to bolt up, but am considering air over leaf.. just for the f of it.. (drop a leaf? or have some built? or flip em?) oh and also wondering, when using the 280zx struts.. do you have to change the tie rods or any other thangs? i'm new to datsuns.. but not new to the forum scene.. i'm a current Honda Ruckus-er.. and have pretty much devoted my time and money to my lil honda ruckus for the last 2 years.. it was time for a bigger project, and the 510wagons have always been in the back of my mind.. anyways.. that being said.. i'm expecting some kind of non-positive feedback to come from my post.. lol.. so bring it on Ratsun. :)
