  1. so now i have a new problem, all 4 of my lights are out. the regular headlights wont go on and the brights/high beam wont go on. the parking lights still go on. i checked the fuse box to make sure all the fuses are in tightly and that none of them are broken. Im not sure what else to do. i would rewire the headlights if i knew how they were wired and im not sure how to read that diagram for the wiring. anybody have any suggestions? i know the bulbs arent burned out and sometimes if i leave the lights on while i drive they will flicker for a second or two. im pretty sure that either something in my wiring is loose or not connected right but i dont know where i should look.
  2. ill look into all these suggestions. im wondering if maybe the fog lights are wired to that relay in the front some how. ill have to check for that
  3. lol my phone doesnt get images unfortunately. i cant think of another way other than uploading them. if you can i would appreciate it. no rush.
  4. yea i dont think so. the outer lights still go on when the beams are on. so all 4 bulbs are on. i even accidentally turned just the outer lights on by themselves. for some reason they went on for a few seconds then went off . its some thing screwy with the wiring. maybe someone knows where i can find an electrical diagram for the wiring of the headlights? ill do a search myself to see if i can find something but if anyone knows, please let me know thanks
  5. Thanks, post me those pics and ill take a look. I am in San Jose CA
  6. I am looking for some replacement body parts for my 1974 620 pickup. I have photos of the truck here: http://community.ratsun.net/topic/29329-74-620/page__p__436534?do=findComment&comment=436534 as you can see the left side of the truck, the hood, and the right front fender are messed up. I may do some body work on these panels but some of them are too messed up to repair or missing. if anyone has any parts for these please contact me. parts i need: left door left right fender hood left quater panel, the missing one on the truck bed next to the cab left rear quarter panel, the one that is on the back of the truck bed that is next to the bumper im sure there are other parts i will need too. i would prefer original parts, however if there is a decent after market piece that is sure to fit and look the same i will certainly consider it. please let me know thanks.
  7. So my headlights arent working right. I have a 1974 620 pickup and the guy i bought it off of had some jenky ass stereo setup so i took it out got some new speakers and put a new deck with new wiring. the speakers and deck i installed work great. the car still runs no other electrical problems for the headlights. they were fine before i messed with the stereo setup and now they dont, so now im confused. basically my headlights wont go on when i pull the switch out. if i pull it half way out my hazard lights/parking lights go on, but if i pull it all the way out the lights dont go on. the parking lights still stay on though. once i pull the witch all the way out then turn on the brights/high beam all four headlights go on fine. wtf. so i can drive with all 4 lights just not the 2 outter headlights. i have no idea why this would occur after messing with the stereo wires. I didnt take anything out that wasnt attached to the stereo that should mess with it. the only thing i can think of is this; my stereo is connected to a fuse in the fuse box that i have no idea what it does, maybe the headlights? and the stereo deck the other guy had in there was connected to an equalizer he had hooked up to some random speakers in a box on the floor which were attached to a switch that was also connected to a line that went directly to the battery and some after market fog lights he installed. im wondering if there is some electrical loop that may have run from the fuse through the jenky stereo setup through the fuse back to the battery that is messing with the circuit. the order would be from the fuse to deck to equalizer to switch to fog lights and battery then wherever and back to the fuse, or vise versa. i have no idea... anyone??

Since ive been on here I found out only 2 of my cylinders are firing. So Ive tuned my valves, got new spark plugs, spark plug wires, coil, distributor cap and rotor, oil change, oil filter, air filter. when i turn the car over it sounds great but it still wont run for more than a few seconds. I can still warm up the car if i baby the gas petal in an awkward way. once its warm it will rough idle since only 2 of the plugs work. I also purchased this book to tune my valves and for any other problems i may run intohttp://www.amazon.com/Keep-Your-Datsun-Nissan-Alive/dp/0912528656 and its very helpful. However, i accidentally found out my problem when I was checking to see if my spark plug wires were connected correctly. It seems it is the distributor. I warmed up the car and let it rough idle and I pressed down on one side of the distributor cap. As i pushed down the cap i noticed it wiggled just a little bit and as i held it down the car started running perfectly normal. wtf. so i then checked to see if there was anything on the surface where the distributor cap fits on and it seems that not only is the cap not on a flat surface but the top of the distributor wiggles just a little causing the miss fire on the two cylinders. I guess I should replace the distributor? or maybe only part of it needs replacing? i already replaced the cap and rotor, those are fine, but maybe the shaft that goes down is off or something else in there is loose. not sure, but it seems it might just be a good idea to replace the whole thing. not sure yet. any suggestions??

I also found links to these 3 books which may be of some use down the road. Have any of you seen or heard of these? http://www.paperbackswap.com/Haynes-Repair-Manual-John-Haynes/book/0856966436/ http://www.paperbackswap.com/Weber-Carburetors-Pat-Braden/book/0895863774/ http://www.paperbackswap.com/How-Rebuilt-Nissan-Tom-Monroe/book/1931128030/
  15. i have a similar problem on my 74 620. however, it doesnt get harder to drive with and it doesnt reset itself after i turn the car off and let it sit for awhile, instead i just doesnt brake well. I think I need to adjust the drums but Im not entirely sure how to do that or if that is the only fix for the problem. basically when i press down on the pedal as if i were normally braking it doesnt engage much at all and really doesnt slow the truck down at all but once i give it some more pressure, the brakes lock and i skid. so i have to really baby the pedal slowly so it brakes slow enough to stop correctly. I cant brake at high speeds either otherwise it takes forever to stop. like i said i think it just needs an adjustment but Im wondering if any of you think otherwise? any suggestions? thanks
