  1. think im going to run the stock exhaust manifold, and going to see if a miata manual steering rack will work? I should still have the factory heater and dash. trying to keep it as stock looking as possible. They told me the hood closes fine with the engine in. so i get to keep my stock hood. The only thing i need now is a set of wheels for the rear. might just run some cheap steel ones for now.
  2. just a few pic's the shop sent me, more to come soon.
  3. carbs sold for $960.00 some body got a a good deal. http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320861709871
  4. im going to try to make it, that is if my car is finished on time.
  5. check your pedal and the make sure its not sticking, my 510 did that and i thought it was the linkage.
  6. the shop took the pics. but ill see if he can send me pics of the linkage. and ill get em to ya. ....or you could just bid on mine and not have to worry bout setting it up...
  7. im looking for a RPM gauge for my 72 510. if i cant find one i will be posting my stock gauge's soon and putting in new aftermarket ones.

    Swap question

i would say for $75, get it...and if all fails you can scrap it. and not lose much $
  9. i know i havent been on in a while. but the car is expected to be finished by the end of the month. The guys at the shop should be posting up pics of the build on the forum. Im hopeing to be able to take the car down to the big nissan meet in nashville Tn. in april. http://www.middletennesseezclub.com/html/zattack_2012.html . I know its not a Zcar but i dont think they will mind at all.. should have some pics by the end of the week.
  10. these are mine but the shop the car is getting worked on is selling them for me, because i moved back to Kentucky. They came of a running L20b, they are complete with manifold and linkage. I would keep them but im stuffing a VH45de into my 510 so no need for carbs. http://www.ebay.com/itm/320861709871
  11. ok..so my questions to you are how many 510's do you own? Whats a Better Swap? And im sure there were guys like you that told the people that did the 1st SR20 swap that they couldnt do it or it shouldnt be done, but its an "accepted swap" now. and im guessing you have tryed engine swaps b4 and not ben able to finish them for what ever reason so you think others cant do it. or your just scared it will work and be faster than what ever you drive. I have to know whats so great about the L series engine? if they were so great then nissan would still use them now. or a variation of them. I think you may be a bit of a Bandwagon guy...you just do what others have done and are happy with that..but i guess thats a good thing, you can buy the parts those people make so you can copy there shit. And how do you know this shop has no background with datsuns? and if you want to "save it" offer me the right amout of $$ and its yours. i dont want to sell it but everything has a price. The real reason im doing the swap is a friend sold me the engine cheap and some guys on here said it couldnt be done and posted pics of the lazy attempt to prove it to me. And a V8 510 if done right shold be pretty dam fast.
  12. i also talk 2 ermish racing and he is going to up the spring rate on the coil over kit im going to order from him. and this is the first swap i have done. but not the 1st for the shop its @. And i kinda know what im doing and talking about i paid alot of money to learn that shit (UTI in orland florida) we built the mustang for the UTI challenge http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://image.mustang50magazine.com/f/9320735%2Bw750%2Bst0/m5lp_0803_25_z%2BUTI_Q_challenge%2B1988_mustang_GT.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.mustang50magazine.com/featuredvehicles/m5lp_0803_uti_q_challenge/photo_29.html&usg=__jLIj6G24dDmWj5oyGwiQpTgURww=&h=480&w=640&sz=34&hl=en&start=1&zoom=1&tbnid=Q4kaZz8ZjIbrcM:&tbnh=103&tbnw=137&ei=AutVTvzHBKyfsQLq5OW9DA&prev=/search%3Fq%3DUTI%2Bmustang%2Bchallenge%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26rlz%3D1R2ADRA_enUS421%26tbm%3Disch%26prmd%3Divns&itbs=1 it many not have been a datsun but it was deff a engine swap...ha ha..and yes its a budge buid...the most expensive part other than buing the car was the one part i ordered from mazworx and that was the adaptor for the trans. most items have came off craigslist for under $300 or free. the engine is already in and we are working on the steering now. hope to have it driveable in the next 2 weeks. ill try to have pics up next few days. ( im not saying i know everything but i know some stuff and would have done this swap myself, but i have 2 fu*ked up shoulders and back..thanks US Army.) Im looking for a 510 Wagon for my next project but that will be this winter...
  13. thanks for the support., all im saying is BOB approved and ask us to bring it finished or not down to PPIR for a car show. and hes got like 13 datsuns. and im doing this swap because some people on here said it cant be done and i got this engine for and wireing harness all accessories for $350 and picked up a trans for $140 and complete rear end from 85 300zx turbo for $200.(with drive shaft) even with all that its a hell of a lot cheaper than a sr20 or any other swap besides a KA. So the shop is going to try to get it in and running by saturday, im going there tomorrow to get more pics, ill post them up when i get time, Im finally got my orders to get out the Army and im clearing this week so im busy as hell if any of you all are ex military.
  14. come on now. who would not change out the drive train? i have a 85 300zx rear end and trans that will work on it. and im going to use stiffer springs in the front because of the added weight but it isnt that much weight so i may be ok with the springs that is on it.
