  1. Oh yeah that emissions box is under the passenger side rear inner fender well right by the fuel fill its in good shape I never noticed it before but yesterday while I was hooking up the fuel line to the gas tank I looked up and saw it. Good looking out guys and yes I am a dumbass and kicked myself for not solving that issue sooner.
  2. Got rid of the fuel filter before the electric fuel pump seems to have fixed the issue. Still got the one in the engine compartment hopefully the pump doesn't crap out but its got more fuel pressure now.
  3. I changed the fuel hoses in the engine compartment and replaced the fuel filter element. Put a hot start relay on it. Painted the wheels red. Drove it around the block and it sputtered and almost died then barely made it home.

  6. So I have been trying to figure out what is making my truck die while I am driving it. It seems like it runs out of fuel. I checked my fuel filters and the are not clogged my fuel pump is working I can hear it when I turn on the key the carb is a rebuilt unit that I purchased about a year back . I checked the float level it is up to the line. Today I put the rear end on jack stands and ran it through the gears and it didn't do it. But if I drive it down the street after I get it into third it dies on me and I pull over wait a second it starts back up and then as I start to accelerate it dies more frequently than it did before. It just started doing this a while back and never did it before I wanna get this figured out so I can sell my truck.
  7. 1977 Datsun 620 4 speed manual transmission 2.0 liter L20B with a W58 intake manifold and Rebuilt Hitachi DCH 340 stock air cleaner setup and all emission components. Carb will need to be adjusted for it to pass smog inspection. New headlights and switch , I upgraded the alternator from a 35 amp externally regulated unit to a 60 amp internally regulated unit. I have installed the lower water outlet from a 280zx to clear the altenator . The thermostat and all the hoses and belts have been replaced. I installed a new starter , battery , ignition wires , coil ,distributor stator , cap , rotor, plugs and the transistorized electronic ignition box. Lowered with 2" blocks in the rear and torsion bar cranked down in the front. New 185 60R14 tires in front and practically new tires in the back. Interior floor boards were rusted but have been temporarily patched and painted to protect from further rust. The dash had been removed for a swap and to check the wiring and repair any electrical issues. The dash pad and instrument cluster would need to be replaced to be put back to stock. The truck has front disc brakes stock and stock 6 lug wheels . Emergency brake needs to be adjusted. Have over 2,000 total invested in it allready and can't spend any more money on it. take over and finish this project. 109,000 miles on it I did a compression check on it 160psi on all 4 cylinders. $700 Registration paid until Nov of this year. Truck would need to be towed PM me and we might be able to work something out.

  12. So i checked the fuel filter and nothing is clogged. You wouldn't have any ideas as far as what can be causing it to completely die while driving it. It just started doing it not to long ago. It usually occurs while accelerating in 3rd gear.
  13. thanks Datzenmike for the info my truck is in fact a 78 sold in 77 and registered as a 77. I will check my fuel filters then.
