#1513590 Front suspension ‘Yiching‘.

Posted by 420n620 on 30 August 2017 - 07:01 AM

I don't have a 720 but assume it's close to the 620 front suspension, not sure what  to call it but theirs a small square bolt on the back side of the backing plate towards the front, by the outer tie rod/s. When you crank your wheels to far in either directions, this square bolt head ( which might/ is adjustable ) rubs up against the lower control arm " wuts you ma call it bracket " on the lower control arm and makes a hell of a screeching sound.  It's not required to grease the square head bolt but a little can't hurt.

#1497566 74' 620 Stopped Suddenly While Driving

Check all the ignition coil wires, had that happen to me and was a loose coil connection.

think you forgot to answer this important question.. This also happen to me and all I did was cleaned the terminals / connectors on the coil.

to check if you got electricity to the coil is take a test light, ground the clip and then test each post on the coil with the ignition switch in the start position. If no juice to 1 or both post, you have narrowed down your problem. Good luck,

Sounds like you might be jumping the gun on this whole " fix it for Canby Datsun camp ground crew" project.. I would think about it a little longer.

agree, think about it, what will the Datsun campers have to do when in the camping area when their just standing around with nothing to do. huh

#1493419 Building a 620 trailer

Posted by 420n620 on 03 June 2017 - 08:27 AM

first, you don't want to use a factory rear end if your making a trailer. If you do, when you get up to a certain speed, the trailer will start walking on you. What I mean by walking is when your cruising down the road and your trailer starts to sway to the left then to the right, back and forth, this is called walking. This can end up having the trailer on it's top or causing some serious problems, like kill your self or even worse, someone else. Scrap the rear end, you don't need it. Keep the leafs.

What you need to do is either make your own axle housing out of square or rectangle steel and purchase the hubs from a company that sells them. If you can locate a boat supply store near you, they should be able to help you.

In Spokane Wa is a place called sixrobblees is where my friend gets his supplies from. If you don't have one near you, sixrobblees will ship.

Here's the link V

also keep in mind if you want to lower the trailer, this is very doable and the time to do it. I'll try and get a pic of an axle set up that I got in the back yard to give you an idea what I mean.

#1441944 Sightings 2, the not a datsun but... Thread

Posted by 420n620 on 13 December 2016 - 06:48 AM

1969. 1968 & 1969 are pretty much the same car (to me) but '68 was the last year Chevelle to have a vent window.

the wing window was offered on the GM A bodys up to 72 if the astro vents were NOT installed in the dash. It's rare to find one or see one on a chevelle. Don't have a production number if any made to back this up but it was offered.

just to prove GM did offer the wing window, here's a 72 Lemans GT-37 without the astro-vents.

yes, the 620's frames are boxed but are made of a inner and outer frame then welded together to make a box frame.

#1361236 video: how to reindex.

Posted by 420n620 on 10 March 2016 - 07:02 AM

I reindexed my torsion bars in my 521. I turned the bars 2 notches towards the engine. Put everything back together....and front sits higher now. Obviously I went the wrong way with turning the bars. Repulled bars and turned them away from the engine. But now the adjusters at the other end of the bars (end that is bolted back in place) is too far out to bolt. How do I get around this?

I found that you only need to move the torsion bar spring 1 spline. This way your able to keep the original tension on the bar or close to it when you adjust it back to the original specks. And you'll be able to adjust it without using a jack.

missing a few random emblems and such, any chance on these? passenger fender, grille emblem and signal lenses?

passenger fender ~ I might have one left. It's on a 620 that I'm not sure if I'm selling the 620 complete or parting out. More leaning to parting out.

grill emblem / fender emblems ~ yes

signal lenses ~  red and yellow ~ yes

I'll get pic's for you this AM, shortly.

Where are you located? I have a local guy who has a Chevy luv bed that I figured might fit in the mean time

And yeah that hinge is a big concern to me, does anyone make a sheet metal replacement for that? If not I'm sure I could make one, but it'seems more of a safety concern to me

located here > https://www.google.c...19!2d40.2671941

I was looking at 1 of the 620's that I'm parting out and it's got a nice hood hinge section. We can talk about that when I get ready to zaw zaw the body up, which will be happening very soon. I'll send you a PM so I can ask a few questions.

Dude slow down with the 'maybe I shouldn't have joined...' There are over 22,000 members on the forum and your getting upset by the posts of only a few.

Build your truck the way you want to and have fun. Its rough so fix it then drive it

^^ here's good advise, don't get thin skinned on us now. You've already decided to fix the 620 up and as long as your mind is made up, so is mine, not sure about the others. Lets move forward and just ignore the "just my 2 cents worth" comments.

It came with a brand new hood, new drivers door, and new passenger side fender. It also came with used replacements for the upper and lower valences, tailgate insert, rocker panels, and grille. Oh, and 2 brand new front bumpers. I can make floors, that's easy, the bed sucks lmao

dammmmm, niiiiccccceeeee, how about some pic's of the parts.

What about the upper section to the firewall where the hood hinges mount. that looked a little swiss cheesy.

I wished you was closer cause I've got a 620 bed in good condition. Sucks that it will most likely be scrapped.

You guys gonna tow it out here for me? Because I sure as hell don't have the means. Only spent $100 on it, and then $400 for the brand new body panels, so regardless of what you guys think, I'm going to build it in spite of it all

we heard you the first time, no reason to post it twice.

sure I'll tow to your place, you got money for me to bring it or will this be put on the Bernie's FREE credit card account.  ;)  just kidding if you didn't know.

for a $100.00 plus $400.00 for the panels ( which panels did you get ?? ) your on your way. Just so you'll know. I'll be posting in the classifieds for sale 620 body sections. Looks like you might need some body sections. Time will tell.

anyways, looking forward to seeing this 620 get put back together.

Look under Seattle craigslist.  most are not rusted out and still already running and in the end CHEAPER

Just to far gone. IN my opinion

Oh lots of Salt on Jap vehicle = rusted out!!!!!!!!!

first, welcome to Ratsun, theirs lots of good info here.

second, Hainz is so correct. Should of been looking in the north west for a 620.

No matter how much money you throw at that 620, it will never be a done project, ever, to much rust, it's to far gone.

hope you didn't spend money on it. If you did, you just got educated and that's how some peeps learn, the hard way.

word of advise, don't waste your time and money, start looking for a much better project, not a money pit. The form has a east and west craig's list thread, that's where you should be looking. GL in your search.
