  1. Thank for your calls. The B210 has been sold and will hopefully race in the Monroe stock car races at a future date.
  2. I have a completely stripped down Datsun B210 Coupe. I also have all the parts I took off of it in boxes and labeled. It has no engine, but does have the 4speed transmission and driveshaft. I have all the glass, doors and hatch. The front fenders have been removed, but I have them. I would just love to see it go to someone with the Datsun fever. There are also parts of another Datsun that I drug home once upon a time. I will toss those in as well. It's time for me to move on. It will need to be transported on a flat bed as I believe it cannot be towed. $50.00 is all I ask. Ask for Cris 425-672-8892 11am-6pm. I am located in Lynnwood, Wa. PS. I will not just sell parts. I want it all gone, in one swoop.
  3. Like I said, it's been a while since I rebuilt one of these and could have sworn to it, or perhaps something my father mentioned. oh. well. Now i know. If I can't rebuild this engine, has anyone had any success in dropping another more modern engine in?
  4. Ok. Update. Looks like something seized hard. Inside the timing chain cover was a mess. The chain was derailed, the key stud on the cam gear had been ripped out, the chain tentioner was a a mess. I am just going to have to pull the motor and see what's all wrong. Is there any good source for reconditioned B210 cranks, in case I need one? I have plenty of cams.
  5. Who all said should not be, take a drink. you're right. So that was a test on my dead engine to get the timing chain to use as spare parts. Here's the real deal. My B210 left me stranded. There engine seized, there was a thunk and it died. It was never out of oil, and it did not sound like the crank. I have taken off the valve cover, turned the engine over by hand and .... none of the valves move. Not a one. SOOooOooO... I am thinking the timing chain has broken. However, it was new when I installed it. Not that they can't break. Has anyone ever removed a timing chain cover without completely removing the engine. I was thinking of dropping the drive shaft, unhooking the tranny brace and then using my engine house lift the motor high enough (hood's been removed) so I can drop the oil pan so the two bolts are cleared that are part of the cover. and if I open that cover, and the chain is in one piece. Woe is me. I don't know what it could be then. Even if the cam broke, some of the valves should work, unless it broke right at the bearing. I vowed to keep one car out of the junk yard. What a pain in the ass. FEEDBACK! :) PS. Think like a pirate! Arhhhhhggg!
  6. I need to take the timing cover off my A14 engine. I have 2 books that don't tell me if the bolt on the outside of the timing cover, that is holding the belt pully in place is reverse thread? Anyone know? It's been so long don't want to hammer it the wrong way with my breaker bar.
  7. Yeah, 20 years ago... that's about the last time I bought one. I just don't feel that much time slipping by. The timing chain was new when I put it in 5 years ago. I hope it was not that. I have others. I had my hand on the fuel pump with the engine running. I did not feel the knock there. I will let ya'll know what it was when I pull the engine. Just a hassle. If I did not think the B210 Coupe was dead sexy, it'd abandon it on a lone mountain road somewhere.
  8. Doah. The engine died very softly yesterday coming home from the store. Just a little squeal, a hesitation then a muted thud. The engine reciprocates with the starter. I will take it all apart and see what's what. Does anyone know who sells A14 crate motors anymore? I used to get them from Nix 99 in mukelteo for $250.00. That was in the early 90s. so.... anyone got any ideas?
  9. Thanks for all your advise, but I am tossing in the towel. The list of parts that move in an engine are pretty finite. After eliminating the rods, tappers, valves That leave the cam/crank/timing chain. I have a feeling it's the cam. It was the only thing that I did not replace because I had no press. SO. I shall drive it untill it pukes, and rebuilt one of the other A-14s I have in the garage. *sigh*. Unless someone likes close to Lynnwood and wants to give it a listen too.
  10. Update. On a cold start, there is no clak noise, within minutes of running, it comes back. With the valve cover off, watching the motion of the tappets and push rods. The clacking is in perfect time with the motion. While cold , before the noise reappeared. I pulled plug wires 1 and 3. Each time the noise came on strong, 2 and 4 had no effect other than causing the motor to miss. So... what I am seeing. I am not quite putting it all together...
  11. Thanks for the input. I will see that what I hear with the dowel. The spark plugs look like a picture in a book. No oil, no carbon fouling.
  12. Problem: Oh okay. I have rebuilt my first A-14 motor. Everything has been fine up until now. The motor never purred. It had a klak-klak dieseling sound (that was NOT spark timing) It ran nicely. It had plenty of speed. NOW,that slight klak-klak has become very loud. You can barley feel it in the gear shift, and not in the pedal. It's loudest at idle, and when you rev the motor is all but goes away. The engine runs fine, except for that noise. The latest development is that the engine has started to backfire, and lost some of it's pep, like it was out of time (no power on hills). What I have done or thought" I thought that it perhaps was sloppy pushrods, I rechecked the head bolt torque, then re-gaped all the valve-tappet clearences to their cold measuremnts. No luck. The sound is still there. To me it sounds like it's upper block only. I don't think it's related to the crank/rocker arms. (They would have blown out the side of the block by now with how loud this klak-klak is. Whatever it is, it makes my car sound like a diesel. (but not because of spark). Any suggestions on things to check or how to properly isolate a knock? I'd hate to have to pull the motor and taking it apart. If noting else, I can swap a head with one of my spare A-14s I have laying around THanks
  13. Yes I would like the pictures. So you drilled directly into the floor of the car? I think pictures would help :)
  14. Congrats on the purchase

    Running Again.

Looks like I don't, but oh well. It's only money. I will order it when I get the stereo working with what I have first.
