  1. Update - Matt Farah comes clean http://www.thesmokingtire.com/tag/matt-farah/
  2. Agreed BUT - the host AND the owner are STILL claiming that it's a Ferrari. I believe the host said "I saw the Ferrari engine, we just didn't have time to get an engine shot" and they are STILL claiming it's a Ferrari. They have fabricated all sorts of stories about it being an actual 250GTO body on a 365 chassis with Datsun interior parts (yeah, because if I put one of 36 surviving 250GTO frames on a Ferrari chassis, the first care I would take interior parts off of would be a Datsun. psssh). They are also STILL claiming it's a Ferrari, in case you didn't get that.
  3. I just want to be the first to say that the title of this thread is rather misleading...
  4. Do my eyes decieve me or is this a Datsun based replica? - HybridZ - Page 3 It all stems from this video: tl;dr - Guy passes off a Datsun replica as a real Ferrari. The Smoking Tire continues to try to pass it off, even after a bunch of Datsun enthusiasts prove otherwise.
  5. The elephant head port is very rare, they only came on 1956 510s.
  6. Yes. Most gaskets are square, also. Remember, you can use a square on a circle, but not a circle on a square. Or a triangle. Or even an elephant.
  7. holy crap those are some hot rims!
  8. Haha, you bet! Ya, that's me. Same with the Hobart Welder. But ya, my house is hard to miss. Just look for the bright yello 4dr 510
  9. I have 2 sets of the kidney mag wheels. 1 set is practically BRAND NEW with practically brand new tires, but i'm letting those go for $400 for the set up I also have a set that will need to be polished with tires (don't know if they hold air) that i'm letting go for $150. Bot sets are 14" I also have a set of 13" wheels. Don't have a pic right now, but they will need to be sanded and polished. They look exactly like the optional wheels on the Sunbeam Tiger, but without spinners. We'll say $100 (no tires).: I also have a set of 14" American Racing Outlaw IIs that i've been selling locally for $300. Tires have 95% trad and the wheels are shiny. Let me know if you want pics or if you're down in the San Diego area stop on by!
  10. Thanks for all of the replies. Yes I have a timing light. No it's not digital. But the timing light doesn't help TOO much when there's no corresponding tick marks. I will try what youse guys said tonight!
  11. Sooooo..... We swapped the L20B into the 510 and got it running and everything. Thing is that the L20B wasn't complete, so the timing mark that we have on the motor doesn't match the pulley, see the attached illustrations: Pulley like this: Timing indicator like this: Anyway, the car runs like crap over 3K (if it even gets that far), so I know the timing is effed. How can I set a good baseline for my timing?
  12. how are SUs more complicated than a downdraught? they're the simplest carbs I have ever seen.
  13. if you can do 4 (240Z) that would be excellent
  14. oh snap! at $5 a piece, count me in for 3!
