  1. Ok, ill check out the video when i can, this connection cant. but let me take a stab at this 1- break the nut on cam first thing, release tensioner, remove fuel pump, then remove the cam sprocket from the cam itself?, remove head, replace gasket, put sprocket back on cam on the #2 dowel pin? i assume there is more than one dowel hole on sprocket? then rotate cam with sprocket to the spot on the timing chain that i marked with paint before removing in the first place? does that sound right? and i'll make sure to watch the video, and that will explain it all to me it looks like. thanks again for the help,
  2. Please dont slam me with "use the search function" lol, im on a really slow and crappy connection. Ok, my 620 is gonna get a new headgasket here in the next week or so, and i need to know how exactly to set the cam on #2, mine is set on #1 atm. Is it just a matter of setting the cam sprocket on #2 when it is reassembled? or is there more to it? i would guess that the cam sprocket only goes on the cam one way. Please help me ohh knowledgeable Ratsun guru's i need to know so i can let the mechanic know.
  3. Nice to meet you Hitch, I'm new here also, and glad to see some more east coast guys, I'm 60 miles north of georgia in tennessee. Maybe one day we can have east coast meetings :D
  4. Here is the info. Editor in chief: Peter Tarach Email is: editors@modified.com
  5. sorry, Its a Auto meter sport comp tach, and its 4 wires to hook up a Signal, 12v ign, ground, and lamp. And thanks again to Datzenmike (who has helped me out a ton) so i guess i hook to the blue, black, black/green, and the red/blue.
  6. My tach showed up today, just wondering if there are tach wires in my dash, i could have sworn i read a post here that said they should be attached to the harness even though my truck didnt come with a tach from the factory. I havent gotten my haynes manual yet( still waiting on slow ass Ebayer), just would like to know what wires go to what hookup on my tach.
  7. My first car was a 87 chevy celebrity, i blew it up in a week  when my family was in Hawaii from 88 to 94, we had a datsun B210 hatchback, Flat camo green and flat black
  8. True, but if i do a BG carb, then i could put up a how to page ;) but i know what you mean about it being a trend for a reason, its a proven Carb that works good, but if people dont try different stuff, then stuff never happens, and that would be boring
  9. i have that issue, and i agree, The kid got hurt at work and got a big settlement, and proceeded to spend way to much money, here's a quote from the article "This 510 is not representative of a low budget endeavor. Abandon all hopes of building this exact car for less than, oh, a boatload of cash. Let's just say it looks the new BMW M5 squarley in the eye, and makes a 335i twin-turbo appear to be a bargain" Base price on a 335i TT starts at $40,000 and goes well over $50,000, and the only work done to the KA is a longtube header and NOS( and i would hope a fresh rebuild) :lol Just reading the article makes you realise, how all those people you hear about winning the lotto, and then are broke 5 years later, how they lose all there money, cause they spend way to much for frivalous stuff, and dont think.
  10. Lol, I started a fierce debate on carbs  I know i can get a weber and all said and done, but why be like everybody else?!? And its really that big of a hassle to get a BG carb instead of a weber? cause i would need a diff adaptor plate? I like BG Demon carbs personally i have had a few, and i like them way better that Holley or Edelbrock, i dont have JY around here that i can go to to get a weber, everything here is crushed for scrap if its older than mid to late 80's. And im just stating my opinion,(so nobody needs to get offended) even though opinions are like assholes, everybodys got one
  11. thanks for the answer, Im gonna look into getting a carb down the road, and Barry Grant has a 250 CFM 2 barrel, so I might look into that instead of a weber to replace the Hitachi
  12. just as the title says, whats the CFM for the stock hitachi and the weber 32/36?
  13. yeah once i have the carb rebuild and working right ill attack the choke, as i said i have a choke cable assembly from an older ford truck, but ill try to hook up the electric choke, the wire is attached to the choke already, its just wrapped up and disconnected so i should find the wire it goes too. my diaphragm will be in Tuesday, so then i can get my carb rebuilt :) and my new Tach showed up today
  14. i got the rebuilt kit today and no diaphram, and yes its like 12,000,000 pieces in the box  While at the parts store, we had to look in the books for a diphram, and all the ones that datsun called for was wrong, but we found one from a hitachi DCH340 from a mazda, so i have to call tomorrow to get availablity and price, unless someone knows where i can get one from? And Ill hook up the choke to see if it works, but all i have to do to start it in the morning today it was 35 degrees out and 1 pump of the gas and it fired right up and idled good. I have a manual choke from an older ford truck, maybe ill do a manual choke cable and junk the electric choke. Hainz if i wanted to just wire it open, what do you think would be the best way? just wire the linkage to the choke?
  15. Sorry for the confusing statement. The choke isnt hooked up, so its not working, but the choke plate is 1/4" open when cold, and opens more when it is hot, so the choke plate isnt closing and choking the carb out. I have never seen the second barrel open at all under its own power. But when the motor is running and you manually open the second barrel, it runs like a raped ape, so i know that the problem is the carb. Im guessing the diaphram has a hole or a rip in it, if you think its something else feel free to say what it is. As for the weber, i will get one down the road, but moneys to tight atm, so a rebuild kit for the hitachi is what i have to do. I will not be doing the rebuild, i have a good family friend that will do it, and it will be done right.
