#1566634 DREAM build! 1972 Nissan Skyline GTX "HKOSUKA"

You better be taking care of that wife for how rad she's being about this thing.

I was just gonna say I have no idea how the hell he's still married...

Sealer done. You can see how much the filler on the back quarter soaked up the sealer. Once I do another round of filler/sanding I'll shoot high build and that will get soaked up by the filler before shooting another round of sealer.. damn I'm tired.

#1562635 Alignment issues on 510

I doubt it. That whole structure is boxed in where it mounts the rear crossmember. I think there's some variance in the control arm lengths from the factory or between years. Maybe one control arm as damaged and replaced with a different year. I have a feeling that's why mine was so far off on both sides.

Strange!

This looks very similar to my problem. You resolved it by moving the inner LCA pivot?

Yes. Cut the tube out and move it back.

I love how subtle the change is. The flares add alot tho. Very nicely done.

X2 on the flares, every time there is a pic of them I just have to stop and drool.

X3 on the flares, nice work they look like they belong to the car not added on.

Thanks Guys!!!

I've had the flu for a week so progress was stopped. I had to prioritize work and other projects over the car. Only so much energy.. finally got a little wind behind my sails tonight. Got the garage straightened up and the car moved to the other bay so I have more room. Now to finish prepping for Epoxy primer. Gotta get busy..

#1561538 1972 Honda Turbo 510

Posted by Josh K. on 30 April 2018 - 06:44 PM

I agree I'm not happy about that. I screwed up the wastegate placement, so I had to roll the turbo up more than I wanted to.  I'm still debating the 90, I just don't like the idea of a small 90 right away.  The only advantage that the current routing adds is flexibility for engine movement.   I can probably find something better.

Just pour a drink and stare at it for 2hrs... That's what I do...        :ninja:

You'll come up with a more elegant solution.

Spent like 3 hours going through this thread. I was getting kind of bummed cuz their were a ton of pics photobucket wasn't showing. Glad to see that at the end they are there. This car, this work of art is incredible Josh. Just wanted to chime in and thank you for the crazy work ethic. It's truly a labor of love. So sick!!! Keep going Man!

This build is one of few I think is worth the effort to fix all the dead picture links.

Pics are fixed!!!

Thanks so much for the kind words. It's definitely been a long road to get this done. Many life changes during this build also but I just try to keep pushing forward. Sometimes it's hard cause who wants to do the dirty work?

I just can't wait to drive it. I hope it stays together

My goal was get the inside of the panels sealed up and ready to mount. I got it done..

First I rolled her outside to intimidate the neighbors.

Then it was time to finish stripping metal... No more paint stripper for me???

IMG_20180422_124405.jpg

All primed.

IMG_20180422_170836.jpg

Trunk lid has too much rust in the rear seam. I'm hoping I can score one at Canby. Maybe James can bring one from Datsunville... It will work for now but I need a new one before final paint.

I'm hoping to have windows in and the car driving by mid next month. I think that will allow time for a bunch of good shake down runs before Canby. I don't want to get towed home...

Did I see an air/fuel gauge? Is it running rich enough? What do the plugs look like?

Doesn't matter. It threw the rod through the side of the case... I think Jeff sabotaged it so they can go SR..

I wish. I would love to have all the proper tools and technique to work metal. I cut metal, not shape it 🤣😂
