  1. Okay thanks, I'll try the blaster for a few days and see if I can get them out myself first.
  2. Hi, so here's my dilima, maybe someone can help. I got the exhaust flange off and am replacing the gasket. The bolts were very seized, but I managed to get them off. When I go to reinstall, I realize that theres no way these nuts are going back on, both nuts and bolts are stripped and corroded. They're very hard to get to as it is and not sure how I'd go about replacing them. Do I have to take the whole manifold off to get the bolts out? They seem to be pressed in with no head to remove. What kind of tool do I use to get the bolt out? Any tricks of trade out there that can shed a little light on the situation? It's greatly appreciated! Oh my truck is a 1971 PL521 thanks.

    Oil pan removal

Hey thanks everything worked out pretty easy.
  4. Anyone know the thread size of the rear main bearing cap on a 1971 521 pickup with 1600 engine? I need to pull it and I don't want to strip the hole. What kind of puller do you recommend? Auto parts stores seem a little confused about this tool. Thanks

    Oil pan removal

Hi there, new to posting here, but have gotten a lot of useful info. on other issues...so I thought I'd give this a go to get an answer. I am replacing a rear main seal on my 71 - 521 truck and I ned to drop the oil pan to get at the bearing to remove it. I have the transmission off as well as the clutch and flywheel. The front cross member has a bottom part that is connected by two bolts on each side. Can I just remove this without lifting the engine to get the oil pan off? The engine seems to mount to the frame and this bar at the bottom doesnt appear to be doing much but stabalize the flex in the frame? Anybody done this without jacking the engine?
