  1. Been following the build for years, but don't recall it on Ratsun but, I'm glad I found it here. Subscribed

    sr20det swap

Will handle no worse than your beloved VG33, which is still beside the point.

What? Not that I think the OP is going to follow through with this swap. But, I think your analogy is way off. My 720 weighs the same as my S14, despite lightening mods done to the S14.

Minor Update: My DD's transmission blew the other day, so that is where my time has been. These did arrive the other day though.... Definitely gonna get these powder coated another color and new decals. Never liked the time-attack colour scheme.
  5. Latest pick-up.... Definitely gonna get a powder coat and decal job, cuz time-attack red lined wheels are so played out to me.
  6. Nice looking truck, but please reconsider the rattle can paint job, painting the chrome and eliminating the turn signal. It looks decent in the pics, why cheapen its looks even further. Yuck!

I haven't updated this thread in a few, but I continue buying parts and doing little things such as refinishing brackets and buying new fasteners. I'm so committed to this build, I've been ignoring my ex's messagings (only have time, money and desire for my truck ATM). Purchased some 3" lowering springs from eBay a while ago and a leaf-spring poly-bushing kit from ebay, but things didn't go smoothly... Long story short, I used Street Edge lowering springs and it uses larger size leaf bushings in the back than what came stock in the Energy Suspension kit. Since it deviates from stock rear spring eyelets, I had to mod stock 720 shackle with a sleeve and reuse the kits rubber bushings, instead of the Energy polys. No big deal. If i remember correctly, the weekend in which these Gas-A-Just shocks finally arrived, we kept getting intermittent showers due to hurricane Joaquin, so i didn't accomplish much. (Pay no mind to 5-lug axle resting of springs, i'm stay 6-lug) New U-bolts since i'm no-longer using drop blocks in the rear... The rear was pre-loaded by my 200lb brother and then everything was torqued to spec and then torque striped (just like i do at work....minus the 200lb brother)... How it sits now... Next weekend i hope to change the drums, rear wheel studs, lines and pads. UNTIL THEN....
  8. Fuck it. Going to stay 6-lug. Machine shop re-drilling solution isn't as strong as keeping it oem and can't use regular wheel studs. Wonder where i can i find these stateside??? ???
  9. Preciate it, but yeah, I'm actually in the JDM wheels thread. You definitely get cool points for finding cool 6-lug JDM, but i'm trying to make the best of some of the spare wheels i have in 5-lug (R32 GTR, Gramlights, Works, Regamaster, etc....).Also, i kinda got burned by shipping costs through Yahoo Auctions JP and the broker i used, but its whatever now. These cost me more in shipping than the actual auction. ( Also, I already have a set of fronts from Bluehandsvideo (i forget his handle on Infamous) Whatever option I wind up taking, I'm not staying 6-lug.
  10. Looking good. Btw, I bet you'd do a damn fine job repairing the 40-y/o fiberglass yourself. Mainly because I'd like to see the process documented in pics.
  11. If I had the skill and equipment to do as you said, I would have done it already. I'm coming from a tuning world where all of our options are available in the aftermarket or by combining junkyard parts. Your post is sure to help someone though. In the end, I have no desire modify my truck that far from stock. I just want a clean ass 720, some nice jdm wheels and a nice sound system. I'm not a mini trucker, I just have a 720.
  12. Yeah, thinking of just re-drilling the axle. Seems cheaper than trying to source another Toyota rear or buying the equipment to do what Rjawm said.
  13. Why 5-lug? 1. Because Regamasters don't come in 6-lug 2. I have half a dozen other set of wheels in 5x114.3 that I want swap between. 3. Most 6-lug wheels look like ass, with a few exceptions. Also, I saw that post on Infamous and the op didn't go into detail on the Toyota rear end swap and in the end, he didn't use a Toyota rear.
  14. I can't find much information on this, so I'm asking here. For everyone who has done the rear 5-lug conversion, is there a direct Toyota axle swap that doesn't involve moving spring perches? Not certain of my Toyota rear axle's year, but the spring perches are about half an inch too outboard.
