  1. I recently had some issues with getting an old engine running. My problem turned out to be a lack of power to the fuel cut-off solenoid valve on a stock carby. This valve ensures the low speed carby circuits do not have fuel when you want to stop the engine.
  2. I have a stock Stanza SSS which originally came with an L16 engne. Before I bought it somebody fitted a L20B engine from what source vehicle I don't know. After a blown head gasket and massive head erosion from the gasket failure in remote Australia, I fitted another L20B from a Bluebird, which I believe is circa 1985. My problem now is the latest engine pings when I connect the vaccum advance, without vaccum advance it runs well (fuel consumption 214km on 19 litres of fuel). I does seem to run better on premium unleaded but money is very tight. Can I run this engine on ordinary (Australian) unleaded fuel RON 91? Can I use fuel with alcohol added RON 95? What is a recommended ingnition timing? Goldy from Adelaide, South Australia
