  1. Cool thanks for the info! Might try messing around with this. Sorry for the thread derail. Though slightly related! Im running 40’s on L20B.
  2. How does one go about recurving? Is it a matter of just trying different springs until you get what you want? Is there a good base line timing for doing this that you might want to aim for?
  3. Mostly 510 and L 4 series. Probably all the stuff most people have piled in garages unfortunately! Timing covers. L16/18 Sedan tail lights. C pillar vents. Sedan axles. Sedan diff. Untested. Fan blade. Water pump and pulleys. Oil pumps. Distributors. Coils. etc.
  4. Are there any? I have parts I need gone!
  5. Perhaps an important detail. Has electronic ignition. Using an msd coil. Tach was not originally equipped. Has the tach with the 2 white wires.
  6. That’s not what I want to hear!
  7. 1970 510. The tach jumps around at higher rpm. Checked connections and all seems okay. Any idea If there is a fix? Disassembly and cleaning?
  8. Some info on the gears. http://www.datsunroadster.com/PIC_PAGES/NEW_PARTS_PIC_PAGES/323-03.htm this place can repair it possibly https://datsunparts.com/products/datsun-roadster-5th-gear-repair-with-caged-bearings?variant=41039295512760
  9. I’m interested to see what the issue is. there is a press fit gear and a splined gear. The press fit can slip or spin. This can be rewelded. There is also a splined gear. This is what I have and it came apart when the main shaft nuts backed off. I reassembled the gear and hopefully got the box back together okay! It has been working so far. Post some pictures when you get it.
  10. It sounds like you haven’t had the box apart yet? If not you may be able to repair the gear depending on what happened. I recently had mine apart. There are a few different versions of the gear. If you do need the gear, I did see a few available in my research. can’t find the exact websites now but they are out there. I remember seeing about 500 just for the gear. So be aware.
  11. Nailed it with the switch. Thank you!
  12. Ahh. I did not realize that. I was searching for a splice in the harness somewhere where the signal wires split from front to rear. I did move the turn signal switch from one steering column to the current one. So maybe I damaged it while doing that. I will try hooking up my other switch and see what happens and have a good look at the current one. So how does the 3 bulb tail light operate? Which bulbs serve each function? Bottom is reverse. Top and middle bulbs? Middle is a dual filament. So the top would have to be the signal and brake bulb? Middle is tail light and brake bulb? Thank you.
  13. I have a 1970 (10/69 production) wagon. Was automatic and now a 5 speed. Not sure if something changed during the conversion or the lights haven't been working properly before. The rear turn signals are not working properly. First I need to know which rear lights are which. I think it is; top bulb is turn signal, middle bulb is tail light and brake light (2 element bulb) and bottom is reverse. Is this correct? As of now the 4 way flashers work. The front signals flash and the rear does. But in the rear, the top 2 bulbs on the left and the right flash. Is that correct? The turn signal stalk activates the front signals and they work normally. Nothing in the rear with turn signal on. The brake switch also activates the top 2 bulbs on each side. The reverse lights work. Bottom bulb. What is the proper operation of the tail lamps on a wagon? Which bulbs come on for each function? I can't figure out why the flashers work all around at least to some degree but the signals in the back won't work with the turn signal stalk. I have yet to find an accurate wire diagram that agrees with my wire colors. I found the connection behind the cluster that goes to the rear and still need to get accurate readings of what is going on there. Thanks for any info on the operation.
