  1. Here is a pic of my '86 720 with the 20/17 Bonspeed wheels and on the stock ST wheels.....bought it already lowered so not sure exactly how low it is.
  2. Growing up I rode shotgun with my dad in a beat up, rusted out, s#*t brown Nissan 720. At that young age I was slightly embarassed to be seen in that old truck. However, after losing my dad to brain cancer 11 years ago I knew I had to find one to build as a tribute to the greatest man I have ever known while fueling my love for trucks. After years of being patient and weeding through countless rust buckets I came across this '85 720 that is in immaculate shape. Despite my background of building wild over the top mini trucks, imports, etc. I want to do this one a little different. I want a clean stock body, lowered stance (no air suspension or body drop) with a turbo motor from the Nissan family under the hood that will make good power and of course sound cool as hell but remain reliable. Recently while driving the truck it developed a clattering sound and lost all acceleration. Rather than diagnose and repair the problem which may be minor or extensive, I have focused on going ahead and doing the turbo swap. I have had it in my head that the SR20DET would be the way to go. However, after researching for a while now I am not sure whether the SR20DET or doing a KA-T would be the way to go. Both seem to have pros and cons but I am turning to you guys for some educated advice. Fabrication to physically fit either in the truck is the least of my worries. My concern is the electrical nightmares that can follow since my intention is to keep the truck reliable and capable of being driven pretty much daily. I have come across several threads across several sites but would like any advice or links to additional info any of you might can offer. Thanks Here is a pic of the truck as it sits now........
  3. Sorry I forgot to add the zip code....its 70809 and will be a business address
  4. I am currently finishing up the body work on my '71 521 to get it ready for paint and have run into an unrepairable left fender. It is damaged beyond repair at the bottom edge behind the wheel opening near the door so I am looking to either replace the entire fender or section in a piece to just replace the damages. I searched in the for sale forum but came up empty on any recent posts with what I am looking for. If anyone can help me out please let me know. I am in Baton Rouge, LA (70809) so shipping will be a must so please try and include a shipping charge if possible. Thanks
  5. Do you still have a tailgate and are you willing to ship to Baton Rouge, LA 70809?
  6. I ended up using the 521 flywheel with the clutch kit for the 200SX. Got it all put back together late last night, drove it home about 30 miles and then drove it to work this mornign about 15 miles and it is doing fine. There are a few strange noises in certain gears but looks like it is from drive shaft movement. I am goign to drive it a little more and see what comes of it but so far so good.
  7. I bought new clutch master and clutch slave cylinders when I started gathering all my parts. However, they were bought for the 521. Although the part numbers are different between the parts for the two vehicles I dont think it will be a problem with them interchanging to work fine.
  8. After much research last night I have decided that I am going with the clutch kit for the 200SXusing the 521 flywheel. The clutch and pressure plate do have different part numbers and are slightly different. The 200SX pressure plate looks like it would be stronger so I am going to go with it since I see no reason at this point why it would not work. I will get elbows deep into it tonight and hopefully by the time I am able to post back to say whether it worked for me or not I will have driven the truck home in order to access the computer to do so. Thanks for all the input guys...I like the fact that this forum has informative people rather than a bunch of punk kids making rediculous comments on a subject they know nothing about!
  9. Here are the facts.....I have the stock flywheel from the L16 that is in the truck. I also have clutch kits for both the 200SX and the 521 which consist of the clutch disc, pressure plate, release bearing and pilot bearing. So from my understanding I should be able to bolt either clutch kit to my existing flywheel with the parts supplied within the kit and be fine??? Also, the input, output and centershaft bearings along with the output seals have all been changed prior to installation of the tranny......
  10. Thats no problem bro....I appreciate your input!
  11. I am about to drop the dogleg 5 speed from a 77-79 200SX into my 71 521. I have talked to two different guys who have done the same swap and gotten two different answers. One used the flywheel and clutch kit from the 521 with the new tranny and the other used the clutch and flywheel for the 200SX. Are they the same clutch and flywheel that made this work for both applications??? I have both clutch kits and both look very similar but not exactly the same. However, I only have the original flywheel from the truck. I am trying to get this thing put in tom night and plan on getting the flywheel i have resurfaced in the morning. So does anyone know which route I should go to make sure this thing is put in correctly without having to find out the hard way?????
  12. I just got a dogleg 5 speed from a 77-79 200SX to swap into my 521 but it came in without the shifter. The problem is that I am trying to get the truck together in time to make a road trip in it to a show and need one immediately. If anyone has one please let me know and I will pay for overnight shipping in order to get it and complete the project in time for the trip! If you have one respond to this thread or give me a call at (225)445-1987.......Thanks!
  13. I know the truck originally came out of Oklahoma a few owners back which is where all the work was supposed to have been done to it. I am not sure if it ended up in Tennessee after that but I got it out of Spring,Texas from Pugz who had the scallops and pinstriping done. I know the guy he got it from goes by the screen name PleasureBurban on StreetSourceMag.com but I dont know his real name or where he was from. When I got it I had to track down the original owner to get the paperwork made legal since it was still in his name and plated in Oklahoma....it was a total pain in the ass but is legally in my name now...Again!
  14. The wheel openings have definitely been raised and modified in order to fit the wheels and be able to turn. Overall someone did a kick ass job on this truck!!!
  15. It looks like it is body dropped but riding on coil-overs instead of on air.....look at the raised bed floor!
