  4. hi forum!! so i have a very sad story so i totaled my Z.... i have a 71 z, just wanna know if the fender and hood are compatible with other Zyear model??? thank you!

THE Z IS BACK!!!! thank you all for the advice! so this is what i did. i checked for sparks, and sparks was shooting out. pulled the line out by the filter and no gas was coming out, so i gave the car a blow job (first time and im glad its with my Z hehehe) still, no gas was coming out, the line wasnt air tight so i re-tightened the clamps. and sucked on the line until gas squirted (now i know how 91 grade tastes like) reconnected the lines and restarted the car, with no luck.. so i pulled the other line by the carb and sucked on it. reattached the line and cranked the engine. it took 6 seconds of cranking then ZOOM! it started.. :) thank you very much for the advices datzenmike, skib and h2theizzo! p.s gasoline can definitely get you buzzed..
  6. ill give that a shot tomorrow, but what if it works? whats the next thing to check? and if it doesnt work what should i do?

  9. hi datzenmike i double checked the hoses for placement. every hose is secure and in the right place. i tried to start the car, but it still fails to go thru.
  10. i changed my fuel filter, and the hoses for the fuel filter and the other hoses for the fuel line, not really sure what their called,
  11. so today i changed the hoses of my Z, after successfully changing the hoses i drove the car for 30 minutes, when i got back home i let it idle,it was idling for a few minutes and i noticed the RPM just drops so i reved it then it was fine then i let it idle but the RPM dropped again, then and it turned off, after that the car wont start anymore, im sure its not the starter, i know i used the right hoses, i cant figure out what could be wrong, need all your advise thank you!
  12. my car is really weird, i havent done anything yet but it runs better now, no hesitation so far. i guess with just advices from you all can make a car run better. will do a thorough check this weekend, and change the rotor cap. and get filters for my carbs.
  13. thank you for all the replies and advice about the engine everything is stock original, except for the new sparkplugs and sparkplug wires.ive been running the car without carb filters. (i don know how to tell if my carbs are clogged so im suspecting that could be it) the distributor and the rotor are both original, the backfiring comes out of the exhaust, it doesnt backfire or hesitates with hard accelerations, it runs fine even i get to 7k rpm, but it starts to backfire when i get to 30mph whats the difference with a backfire that comes from the exhaust and the carburetor? im not really a mechanic, but how can i tell the difference if the points are pitted with a n non pitted point? if its pitted could i adjust it myself or do i have to change the part? im thinking of getting a new distributor or a rotor, and replace the old ones. thanks for all the advice p.s how can i post pictures?
  14. may car has been running fine until 2 days ago, whenever my speed gets over 30mph the engine starts to back fire and hesitates, what could cause that? and how can i fix it? ive changed the spark plugs and wires with NGK. but it didnt solve the problem, hope someone can give me advice thanks!
