  1. I keep telling myself that I am going to make it to this event again, but then the day arrives and I can't. weather has been an excuse o have used, also I make a point to attend Kickin it Old School on the same Saturday as Powerland. By the time Sunday rolls around, I just haven't wanted to chase my kids around at another event. I also figure that a lot of people have left before I could get there on Sunday. Maybe next year. I don't remember seeing much in the way of promotion,at least not on social media. That might be something to look into for next year. I understand Jbirds point about not wanting to charge more. I have resisted charging for any of our club events, but it's looking like we might to have to start, at least for Silver Falls. I make a point to tell people to attend Powerland, but it would be easier if I had more information to give them. Next year, if you want to bring an event poster to the dealership, I will gladly put it up at the counter in the parts department. I also make a point to promote other clubs events on our social media pages. For example, I just shared Dan's event post about Blue Lake on every page i am a part of, and also on both of our social media pages. If you send me a link for next year's Powerland, I will do the same for that also.
  2. I think Al already did that. I had heard it was a little too low to be practical. my old truck sat a little higher than I liked, but I never got around to putting my 720 4x4 leafs,& blocks on it. I don't know exactly how low it will eventually be, but i should have some idea once the slot mags are on it. I am currently thinking about how this truck will be used. I want to put good use to that canopy, & also am looking for a tent trailer to tow behind it, when we go camping.
  3. I have a set of the factory Bumperettes, but hadn't gotten around to putting them on, partially because I am considering getting a pop up tent trailer, so I would need the tow hitch my steel bumper had. It's a good thing I didn't have the Bumperettes on at the time of the accident, that heavy full length steel bumper probably saved my life! I haven't quite decided what to do for a bumper on Sweetpea yet. I am looking for a vintage tent trailer, because our club has several campout events. Sweetpea will need to be able to tow a trailer, so I will either be getting another bumper like my old truck, or putting on a reciever hitch, & using my Bumperettes.

  5. No worries! To each thier own. I will probably hang on to the steelies also.
  6. yes. All things considered, & knowing how hard the Impact FELT, I am amazed how well my truck held up. I don't know that I will ever feel quite as safe about another vehicle, as I do about 521's at this point. My Truck took one hell of an Impact at both ends, & I was able to walk away.
  7. I bought a "New" 521, to replace my wrecked truck yesterday.

  8. here's a couple pictures from Silver Falls last year the first picture has the new truck, & Hogie's 521,along with my old one in the background. the 2nd picture is of my old truck at the same event. here's one of Hogie's truck, with both my old one, & the new one on either side of his. here's on of all 3 trucks.
  9. I bought another Dragon green 521 yesterday, to replace my wrecked truck. It's actually in alot better overall condition than my old one was ,& I also bought a disc brake setup, & 2 8.5" wide slot mags to go with it. The new truck is a running, driving truck, so I will just want to change some things, to make it more my style. I also want to get the dogleg 5 speed, that I didn't get the chance to install in my old truck, put in the new one. I am not sure how many parts of my wrecked truck are savable, but the ones that are will most likely find thier way on to the new one. Plan is to build the truck in the style I had always wanted to do my old one, so with a lot more lean towards the Fontana style. The new truck has been known as "Sweetpea " in the Oregon area, & I will keep calling it that. do you guys think I should start a new build thread, or just keep this one going? anyway, here's a couple pictures;

    Mark your calendars and get your Datsuns ready! We will be having our 5th annual Wilsonville Sonic meet on Saturday, January 12th, starting at 7pm. This has been a fun event to organize and attend every year & as always I am looking forward to seeing many of our fellow Datsun enthusiasts. as always, this us a Family friendly event, & everyone is welcome! no club affiliation is necessary. I hope you are able to attend!
  11. I was kind of stunned when Steven told me Monday. Over the years I have offered to help out wherever needed. when I heard Steven was stepping down, I offered again. at that time, he thought they had someone. I have attended most ,if not all of the 13 years of the Canby show. my family and I have always looked forward to it, & I will keep some hope that the members of Datsuns NW will regroup at some point and restart the Canby show. until that happens... While no show can really REPLACE the Canby show,(or any of the other,longtime running events) We will be making some changes to the Silver Falls show, in an attempt to fill the void left by the Canby show not happening. We will be making it a weekend,camping available event, in June, with some of the activities we all enjoyed at the Canby show, & some new ones also. I will make an official announcement when we have a few more details nailed down. we should have more information at the Wilsonville Sonic meet on January 12th. I need to make reservations at Silver Falls State Park, & they don't do that until after the first of the year.
