  1. Basically, my truck ('85 720) is still a piece of shit. Still no front end (fenders, hood, grille, headlight assembly), and it doesn't look like I'll be getting one anytime soon either. I've seen more Lamborghini's here than 720's with decent front ends. Other than that, my truck is still running amazing. No problems, whatsoever. I finally replaced my drive-shaft support bearing and U-joints while I was at it. New plugs, wires, distributor cap, fuel filter, and some TLC. Also, I've got a new sound system. Don't chew me out for having a new sound system and no front end, the sound system was a gift. Once I get my front end put back together, what do you guys think I should do to her?
  2. Over the weekend I was supposed to go get my front end, which I was pretty stoked about. Then it rained like a bitch here, so that didn't happen. I was cool with that, the front end will still be there in a few days, right? Right. Well, too bad I won't make it there. My clutch is slipping, probably about to go completely, and I still haven't replaced my drive-shaft bushing/insulator. So basically, I'm screwed. My job also started cutting hours, again, which sucks even more so considering I work a minimum wage job. Now I have to buy a new clutch, drive-shaft bushing/insulator, a complete front clip, and windshield on $80 a week. Awesome.
  3. The three 720s here are stripped. No engines, transmissions, nothing. I'll just wait 'til I try my 280z shifter swap.
  4. The terminals have been cleaned meticulously numerous times. And yes, won't crank at all unless jumped. When I turn the key to crank it, it won't turn over whatsoever, but I can hear the fans kick in. Exactly, ha.
  5. It has to be jumped off. It's not like an every day thing, it's only when it gets pushed a little harder than usual. And honestly, I have no idea what that is, ha.
  6. My family bought this car new, and we've seldom had problems with it. Like, ever. With over 250k miles the only parts we've had to replace are a timing belt and an alternator. Well, lately it's been having a cranking issue - every time we drive it a little harder than usual, such as cruising at 80 down the interstate (the speed limit is 70-75, so don't go off calling me jackass driver), and then park it, it won't crank up. The battery and alternator are both fine, as well as the starter. Any ideas as to what's causing this?
  7. I was planning on trying the 280zx shifter swap, but 100 degree plus is a bitch on the hands.
  8. It's tightly threaded and epoxied. It won't budge whatsoever, even after a healthy dose of PB blaster. And it's more like the first one, just gold.
  9. I'd like to get the old one off. I guess my glovey will have to do for now.
  10. Well, a while back my OE shift began cracking. So, I went to the local machine shop and had a billet one "custom built", which sounded cool at the time. Then this lovely Alabama summer comes around, and my shift knob reaches insane temps, to the point where I can't even use it. Stupid on my part, I know. So I bought a nice little knob from the local yard and went to install it..didn't happen. Turns out the jackass glued his knob down. What do I do?
  11. That would work if I could get my hands on one around here. I've seen more Ferarris here than Datsuns.
  12. So, this is the driveshaft insulator thingy?
  13. Alright, thanks! Good thing we've got his 240 working again.
  14. Yeah, it's the rubber. So you suggest using a conveyor belt? lol
  15. So, I'm just going to be honest and straight up - I've never really worked on a car before, until yesterday. Sure, I've watched my dad work on them since I was old enough to hold a flashlight, but I've never done work by myself without supervision. Well, I've now replaced a half shaft, alternator, head gasket, thermostat housing, plugs with new wires, distributor cap with ignition rotor, front bumper, and installed a new interior, all in one day. Well, we were using my truck to haul all these shiny new pieces and when we were pulling up to his house again there was this terrible sound and bumping coming from up under my truck. We jacked it up and found a bunch of plastic/rubber down the street. We finally discovered that was my driveshaft bushing. So, now I have even more work to do..yay. Any tips on replacing the bushing? I've already got a good idea as to what I have to do, I just want to make sure there aren't any hidden secrets to this.
