  1. Lol... lucky? I also remember when there were no computers or internet ...and the definition of a mindless waste of time was hanging out in the garage working on a project
  2. Nope no 200SX Axles. I didn't get any of the car with one of the motors. The Z22's are all from trucks. I do have a few of those axles, no LSDs I did have an S110 waaaaay back and it was "only" a H165 so I didn't keep it when I parted it, everyone I knew had a H190 or IRS in whatever they were building. I still have the 2.0 crank, rods and pistons from that one.
  3. Yes it is me.. Matt I agree there are other engines that might make more sense for a swap... especially as so many newer Technology choices are now available But those I mentioned were saved because of the reasons Mike mentioned and aren't all that plentiful anymore If someone wanted them it would be because they were building a "Frankenmotor" KA 12 valve heads also fit on those blocks. And that combination is the basis for many serious competition engines.
  4. This is NOT an offer for sale Been out of the "scene" for a while and have no idea where parts values are nowadays. And it seems the 'vid has made all things expensive .... Wondering what other members have seen, what I've seing on FB ranges from suspiciously low to outright ridiculous but I'm surprised more often than not. And certainly depends on the location. But I havent seen these come up for years; What is market value for complete Z22 engines, long blocks, short blocks from Truck or 200SX? 5 speeds from same? What about Z20E ? No wrong answers, opinions or actual asking prices welcome If you could post when and where that was for context that would be great
  5. I also think the fourm traffic is going down in all the older automotive fourms. The cars are old and disappearing, the original founding seinior members are also getting older ( but hopefully not all disappearing ). And there doesn't seem to be as many exciting builds or peeps doing truly new or unique things anymore either. For me I just dont spend that much time in front of a computer as I did when I was younger.
  6. Wow another person claiming L16 and 18 cranks are a drop into any L20B or Z block I assume he means after you find someone that can spray weld and finish grind the smaller main bearings Did I mention this head swap had been done before?? And if you were to compare any Nissan 4 cyl to a Toyota 4AG it would be the FJ The KA-DE is a better comparison to the 4AF with its narrow valve angle ...the cam on bucket thing isn't new and certainly isn't unique to the KA24DE I'm always amazed how the 16 valve KA head is touted as the best Nissan 4cyl "ever" when its head is nearly identical to a 16v GA head... and what's so special about that?
  7. Let's see those sexy Mikunis!
  8. Cool .. it's your build.. Thought you posted here in the KA head on L series thread for comments Who knew? Those 50 mm solex carbs are rare I have a couple of friends who race that would have been all over them with offers of cash not that many years ago but they run efi now
  9. Hmmm..... I'm thinking that crank and those rods in a Z22 block with VG30 pistons ...aw heck.. And a KA-DE head conversion why not ?? You might have trouble finding a good set of 50+mm sidedrafts tho, but the 45s are easy to find and the 50 or 55s are kinda "boggy" on the bottom end for street use But lots of efi and turbo options with that KA head
  10. Well when they stroked the FJ20 to 88mm the rods didn't change so the pin height of the pistons accommodated the 4mm difference
  11. 89 x 80 that's the same as an FJ20
  12. The 6 bolt cranks were part of the Japanese FIA homoglation parts that were offered in the old NISMO and NMNA catalogs from the 70s and 80s I don't think they were cheap Nissan ran a factory twin cam version of the L series in the 70s and 80s and there were lots of trick parts from that program And while there are 4 counterweight L18 cranks from the JDM market most of them are fully counter weighted so that 6 bolt L18 racing crank made of spendium would not be the best use of a budget unless you needed to run the entire FIA package to meet the rules, but then you couldn't run a KA-DE head Besides if you needed 6 bolts you could "turn" down the mains on a a L20b crank to fit a L18 block if that stroke was the target
  13. Did anyone wondering about the use of the L18 block consider that it might be required in the rules of the series to maintain the original spec block? And most inline fours that are designed for racing typically have square and under square bore to stroke ratios because there is very little low RPM use on a road race track and typically the most powerful cams are aimed at the higher RPMs
  14. docbainey: Actually I was making an assumption as when I was google searching that name Les's web page came up among the results... But I have no Idea if he works there my point was that it had already been established that this had been done and (I think) being first wasn't what Blackmarkit was trying to do
  15. Yes that's almost exactly what he's doing He gave credit to someone from that shop on the second or third page of posts And yes it's been done
