  1. ok so only a year later, ill post an update. i got the graffiti redone back in 2017 i think. got to park my 510 next to phil blottie back in 2017 right after. then i got some SSS tail lights got one good picture of my old bmw with my 510(sold the bmw to buy my house) painted the wheels and stacks then i yanked out the LZ22 with my buddy before he went to the military then got the car ready for its new engine. i tubbed the enginebay due to the extensive damage to the factory wheel wells. not to mention i got to update the engine bay a little and make a new reinforced crossmember for the rotary. installed the rotary made a cutom manifold so i can get all of the likes on instagram for the top mount turbo. cut the hood moved out of california and bought a house in las vegas with a giant 3 car garage and lots of room to work on cars. this is just the one car side of the garage. LOTS of room. the newest project is getting the rear end modified. i know there is a ton of other updates, but this was the major stuff that ive done over the years. the 510 got put to the side for a long time so i could become more financially stable and buy my dream house. i did start a youtube channel and do monthly updates on the 510. ill link my channel below. thanks for looking and follow me on instagram @Rollover_Red and youtube(latest video);
  2. does anyone check this stuff anymore? if so, ill do a new update on this build. yes, i still own her. yes she is still slammed. and no i dont have the lz22 in her anymore.
  3. l16 housing and no. i just pulled the spark plug on cylinder number 4 and cranked the engine. it shot out some coolant. so its blown again. same cylinder as always. could the fuel ratio cause the head gasket to break? i might be running too rich. either way, ill be ordering a nismo gasket and trying that out. if it pops again, ill take the engine to my machinist and have him take a look.
  4. it would tend to overheat with the 195 one(maybe it was 185). it loved the 165 one. never went past the halfway mark until it overheated this one time. used complete block, z22e all stock rebuilt 3k miles ago.
  5. im running a w53 and it lasted the longest with the 165 thermostat. and the radiator is brand new. was thinking about running the nismo head gasket and calling it a day
  6. ive gone through 3 head gaskets in about 3k miles. it runs great for about 1k miles, then start idling low(then goes to a slight misfire), starts over pressurizing the cooling system, and eats through coolant somewhat quickly. ran fine until a few days ago. so ive gone through everything and had my block and head inspect multiple times and there are no cracks. im using arp head studs im using the z22e felpro headgasket(modied for the l16 head), but 2 out of 3 have blown from the stock drilled holes, not the modified ones. ive used copper gasket on 2 and none on the third. always follow the torque spec/pattern. always retorque after a heat cycle and full cool down. just checked the head studs to make sure they are still to torque spec and they are. the engine has less than 5k miles on it(new pistons, rings, bearings, etc....) the head and block both got resurfaced right before this third one. both were checked for warping and both were fine. the head was rebuilt about 3k miles ago when i first built this engine(new valves, new valve guides, 3 angle valve job, new valve stem seals) also using a koyorad, 1250cfm electric fan, and 165 degree thermostat. havent done a compression check yet, but from past experiences, this is another blown head gasket. im running out of patience with this engine. could too much fuel/ bad cam timing, or bad distributor timing cause this? too much fuel for the cylinder? any other suggestions? its not a crack or else it would run like shit from the start. i always make sure its warm before i start driving.
  7. well ive never had the speedometer read accurately in general, i just wanted to use it. troy ermish helped me take measurements and we looked around and figured out that any z car 5 speed pinion sleeve worked. and my apologies for the incorrect terminology. not exactly my specialty. haha
  8. as the title states, im running a ka24de transmission from a 240sx(s14) with my LZ22 and im curious as to which speed sensor i use to run a cable driven speedometer(stock). the ka24de trans speed sensor is for an electronic speedometer(electronic harness). i tried fitting the stock 4 speed sensor in, but it stuck out too far and im pretty sure the gear would get chewed up.
  9. ok, now comes the task of finding one......
  10. the gear ratio is awesome considering the engine has the torque to push it. great on the freeway too! thanks again randy!
  11. Well I'd like to have a full 5th gear. I plan to cam my lz22 in the near future. I also have a r180 with a 3.3 gearing and I'd love to get a close ratio gear box. What would you guys suggest?
  12. Sweeeeet. I'm not worried about the weight. I just want a 5 speed. Thank you for the quick response!
  13. So I've heard that the transmission to get (if you want a full 5 speed) is the 83 non turbo 280zx 5 speed. But what is the difference between the non turbo and turbo tranny?
