  1. If you are using that "EMachineShop" program, the .EMS is probably their own file extension that will only work for their company. (EMS=E Machine Shop) I have never heard of a .EMS file. If you are having these made at a machine shop they are probably going to want a .IGES or .DXF file to work from. You might be able to just take the gasket to the shop have them use it as a template to cut you flanges. If you were to mail me the gasket I could probably create a CAD file for you.
  2. Thanks, fixed. Someone should take this so I don't have to scrap it. The transmission in good working order.
  3. I just got that same radiator for my KADE 510. Im going to end up turning the lower outlet 90* outward because it points straight at the alternator. Wagon looks pretty cherry! Nice work.
  4. I don't know what transmission you are running, but for argument's sake we'll say it has a .759 5th gear, which I think the VG trannies do?? We'll also say you have 205-50-15s, which have an approximate diameter of 23in. With the 3.9 you are spinning 3019 rpm at 70mph in 5th With the 3.7 you are spinning 2864 rpm at 70mph in 5th. Total drop of 155 rpm. You also gain about 7mph in top speed at 6000 rpm (146mph vs 139mph)
  5. I made some decals that will replace the ID plate on the strut tower to show that the car has a KA24DE. Stick this to an aluminum plate and stamp in your appropriate VIN number and engine serial number. These are clear vinyl stickers printed with black and then laminated. One has the corners cut out and the others have the border still intact, as pictured. No Longer Available.
  6. My dad is replacing the vented hood on his 280 with a vent-less hood, so he will probably be getting rid of that pretty soon if you still need a hood. The paint is terrible but it's pretty straight. Let me know if you want it. (in Salem)
  7. If you are worried about the car overheating put your effort into getting your cooling system working. Carbs and cams won't keep the car from overheating. Look on here for info about the various radiator swaps you can do or take your stocker to the radiator shop to be 3-cored. Also put in a new thermostat and you should be good to go as far as overheating.
  8. Most VW/Audi seats have the sliders built into the floorpan of the car. This also includes the mechanism for fore/aft adjustment. I would say cut all the stock mounting stuff off the seat and adapt it to a different slider mechanism. I think welding in all the slider stuff to the car would be a PITA and would likely make a mess of your floors. Those seats are definitely comfortable though, so it would be cool to find a way to do it.

    Ticket rant

Show the judge that you have calculated the maximum speed for your vehicle in whatever gear you were in. Since is it not theoretically possible for your truck to go that fast in that gear the judge will hopefully see that the ticket is erroneous and lower the fine or dismiss it completely. Good luck!
  10. I think I looked at your car a few months ago before you bought it. The paint looks like it is in decent shape, and while it may not be shiny or pretty you will probably be better off just leaving it alone instead of primering it. Save the money you would put towards primer and use it for a good paint job. Looks like a solid car!
  11. I didn't personally see the engine run, so I can only take the dude's word for it. The coil is out of a friend's car that runs so I know its good. I've been checking spark both from the main coil lead and from cap/plug wire, holding 1/16" or so from a ground. Everything seems to be hooked up right so it's probably a matter of double checking things. My ECCS relay comes on with switched power and the fuel pump relay does it's timer thing so I guess that's a step in the right direction.
  12. I was just pondering about the light green wire... I do have power at the black/red wire. I don't have a very big wire to ground the engine to the body. I suppose that would be a good thing to add.
