  1. 8" wheel is actually 9" wide, so that 5.5 backspace works out to a +.5" , or a +13mm From my experience with nissan/datsun trucks you need a +10 to a +20 to tuck, that suburban wheel should be around a +20

    Rust free 520

i thought about a 510 or a 240/280 rear, but they are all 4 lug. Great article ,,,definately gives me some ideas Main reason to do IRS is to get the rear lower without a cut bed.

gotta do some measuring,,,,anyone done a IRS on the back...thinkin about a 80s supra rear end. Front suspension will be custom built with probably toyota spindles and hubs,,I want the 5x4.5 pattern to run the wheels I want, or I would do S10 stuff,,,,S10s have HUGE front hubs

i thought it might bo ok but at first inspection its pretty bad,,,above the front hangers is rustd through

    Rust free 520

the camper actually is for the 520. The 620 came with it,,,it is rusted,,,,,,BAD,,totally unsalvageable. Its a 79, so i may use the motor and tranny,,,both run GREAT, no smoke. 520 needs brakes or i would probably drive it.
  6. I need the following 66 520 Right side fender emblem, or a pair of emblems Hood emblem, big un Also need a hookup on those JDM fender mirrors for the 520, anyone know were I can buy em?

    Rust free 520

well ,I finally got er home. I will take some more pics this week,,,has a small spot rusted through by the batt. I was considering leaving it original, but since original 520s arent worth that much anyway, here is what i have planned Frame off restoration Dual A-arm conversion in front New axle with disc brakes 5 lug wheels. 17s or 18s airbags, simple up down L20 or KA24, NA 5sp tranny paint, leaving body as orig as possible, Dragon green or red. Basicall a nice custom driver, nothing too radical Suggestions?
  8. man,,doesnt a 620 look sweet from the rear 3/4 view,,,,,,awesome truck! So,,how much are those custom drilled Te37s?
  9. nice 620,,i had a red 77 years ago, wish i still had it 6 lug Te37s? didnt know they made those
  10. i think the MFG date was 3-66, but it might be 3-65,,the title says 66 on it,,,i read somewhere that the practice back then was if a truck didnt sell, they would move it to the next year how similar are 520 and 620 frames? cab mounts, ect, of course its a king cab truck, so it would have to be shortened
  11. I am in Tennessee, close to nashville. I have bought the trucks but havent picked em up yet,,,,,,,the 79 is a king cab....thinkn bout changing the front susp to s10,and the have the rear axles drilled to 5 lug to match. I wil have some good parts from the 79, but very few. The body is rusted as bad as I have ver seen any vehicle, motor and tranny are good, and there may be some good interior parts and such. It only has 2 lights total, I read on other sites that 65 was the only year for 2 lights, and 66 changed to 4, but this is a 66 with 2. I will post pics when I get em home
  12. how rare is a 66 2- headlight 520?
  13. but if i am going to the trouble of putting in the l20 i might as well put in a k24 or something like that...lol...there lies the dilemma.
  14. sorry i posted this in the wrong section anyway, I might clip the frame before scraping and change either the crossmembers or the front rails,,,,,,will the 5sp fit the 520 with the stcok motor? it looks as if the l20 wouldnt fit in the 520 bay without major work,,,,,,,I am trying to decide if I want this to be a major project modern running gear or just a cool old truck and keep it original
  15. hey guys, new to the forum I just picked up a 66 520 that I am going to do something with, its almost rust free and I havent decided if I wanna make it a mild custom or restore it. I also got a 79 620 in the deal,,,,rusted out badly, that I was gonna scrap. the question is... Will the front a-arms from the 620 fit the 520 to get disc brakes and ball joints instead of kingpins? thanks brad
