If you're running them under a pipercross filter, looks shouldn't be a problem. Why not use the OEM yamaha rubber stacks. They have a little angle on them...dunno what for though. I would assume something to do with the yamaha airbox fitment.
What's up with this? I haven't heard anyone talking about blocking mixture holes...?
Those are MJN needles. Pretty cool, glad you were able to get them working for you.
You're on the right track thinking about roll centers now. But...are you designing a complete rear suspension or lowering an existing car and trying to figure out what you've got?
I, for one, would be interested. My 510 is a long way from being track-ready, but I would be willing to pay for one and help out with the prototyping process, if required.
I'm really interested to see what you come up with. A 10" wider 510 without box flares is very interesting.
Another option, silhouette racer flares, lol:
Maybe cross-post to the realm. I know there's a guy over there looking to make composite floor pans, quarter panels, front clips, all kinds of crazy stuff. You might be able to talk him into something like this. Here's his build thread. They built a carbon fiber bull bar....interestingly enough.

Those z force flares are pretty huge. Do you have any pictures on other cars of what you might be looking for? I'm having trouble picturing anything wider that isn't a box flare that wouldn't change the body line too much.
edit: spelling
Those with the bogg brothers manifold...
I had it bolted up with some nasty tri-mil headers I had laying around, but switched to the factory manifold and am running into interference issues. Before I go grinding away at the stock manifold, anyone else experienced this?
Many do a "minitub" in the rear with bubble flares on a 510. If you have the "how to modify" book, it's detailed in there. Here's a link to download the searchable PDF of the book from the 510 archives put together by okayfine from the 510 realm.
