What do you mean "280zx front brake brackets"?
I thought the caliper bolted tight to the strut...

#1470328 Well, now what am I gonna do with this?

I've used oven cleaner to remove rattle can paint without damaging the paint underneath. Strip the bad stuff off and if you find ratty stock paint just build a rat. This is Ratsun after all. If it's nice paint underneath, that's just a bonus.

This is my buddy's 510 wagon. $2500 Super solid car. Was owned by an eccentric old guy for most of its life. Needs a good home.

Many L18's are JDM imports. Especially if it has a W53 head. If you ever pull the intake manifold check for notches at the top of the intake runners, might even be a fuel injection head.

I normally hate body kits but that actually looks cool. Ripped off the Dodge Challenger for sure.

Owner needs to get his info straight.

#1441020 Z20E with U67 Head

^^^ I have read your thread. It's part of the reason I originally dismissed the idea of swapping in the complete z20. :) lots of little issues to overcome.
If I swap the L head onto the Z20 short block, I basically have a bolt-in engine for my 510. Plus I already have all the parts. That's an added bonus.

So the internets say that the Z20e is rated 100hp stock. An L20b is what, 96hp stock?

Pretty sure I can crack 100hp with the hot cam, port work and higher compression from the flat top pistons so I'm leaning towards the hybrid.

I appreciate all the input from you guys. I have played with a ton of Datsuns and owned a few hybrid LZ engines but for the most part have avoided building any of the engines.

Better yet, run it with the Z20E EFI stuff too. Super easy to wire up and will net better power/economy than a carb(s).

I thought about that but I would be putting it into a 71 510 so I'd need a Z transmission (just the engine is available) and I think oil pan mods and motor/ trans mount mods at least since the Z is at a different angle right?

I have tons of L series parts already so I wouldn't need to buy anything to build the hybrid. I do like the efi idea though...

Anyone know the hp numbers for a stock z20e from a 200sx? I certainly don't want to swap the L head into it just to make less power.

But I would say, if it's a complete Z20E, use it as is. It'll be a lot simpler, and in my experience it'll perform better.

Do you mean run it with the Z head and all or you just talking about the shortblock?

"Ultra high revs"
That's what I was thinking too. It would be a fun weekend car not a daily so I would like that.

Anybody actually done this before? Seems like a no brainer, that's why I was concerned that maybe I was missing something.

Ok I want to run this by you guys and see if this idea is worth my time. would love to hear if anyone of you has actually run this combo... I searched and can't find anyone who has.

I have access to a complete z20e with low miles. I also have a U67 head with a nice cam, port work and unmodifed chambers.

I'm thinking if this z20e has factory flat tops I'll just drop the U67 on it and should get a decent street engine with around 9.0 compression without much fuss.

Is this a good idea or will it just feel like a stock L20b? Am I missing anything?
