84 720 Z24 TRANS

19 February 2018 - 09:41 AM

Bought my 84 720 under the impression it needed a clutch. Engine runs great and I felt the clutch could be the culprit when I had the engine running and could throw the trans in any gear without any issues without using the clutch. Checked fluid level and slave motion. All looked ok. Proceeded to remove trans in hopes of seeing a clutch fiber furball. To my surprise. No furball. Clutch disc looks relatively decent. So I grabbed the input shaft and the output shaft and could spin them independently of each other regardless of what gear it was in. Seems as if a shaft broke or a gear or something. Very noisy and no fluid came out when I pulled the driveshaft.

My question pertains to a replacement. I have a spare S13 KA trans sitting in my storage truck. Bellhousing of course is identical. However, the shifter bolts in whereas the truck pops in and is held in via the mounting plate. Is there anything I can do with the KA trans? Parts? Simply swap it in and maybe trim the opening and use it?

83 720 torsion arm adjusting bracket bent bad

20 November 2017 - 11:56 AM

Hey guys,

One of the 2 720 pickups I bought was lowered as far as it can be lowered via blocks and a torsion arm adjustment. I wanted to raise it some to make it a little more ideal to work on. I got under the truck and found the passenger side bracket where the adjuster bolt was bent beyond all repair. Is this a part that can be gotten individually and maybe new? Or is a used torsion bar my best bet?

Fuel pump operation.

Hey guys. I am new to the 720 pickups but am versed pretty well in other nissan products. My question pertains to my 83 KC 720 2.4L. I have a fueling issue and want to try to get some insight. Truck isnt getting fuel to the carb. Control box on passenger side looks ok after inspecting solder points. Figured i would take the pump off to see if it works with dorect battery power. When i touch the leads to the battery all i get is one click. Is this normal? Any electric pump i have ever dealt with has a very slight hummm like vibration when operating but most of those are pumps producing 40-120psi of pressure.

Should it just click or should i get something more out of it?
