Yes thanks I kept digging for images that showed the direction of flow to and from point A to B and saw a diagram from a Z car that had the hoses labeled and where they connected .The lower radiator housing on the timing cover is the same as what is on my engine. Yeah......the bypass hose is what I couldn't remember as I built this car over 25 years ago ! I vaguely remember the tee fitting that picked up the return from intake manifold to bypass . Thanks for the info I should mention this engine is in a triumph spitfire but the system is the same I have the hose from the rear of the u 67 head going into the heater core its coming out of heater and back to the housing that's connected to timing cover ,the radiator hose goes to lower side of the radiator (cross flow radiator from a vw sirroco)there is a vertical outlet on housing that is plumbed to the small hose on the lower side of the thermostat housing . I cant remember where the return line out of the intake manifold went to, seems like it went back to that lower hose on the thermostat housing. ?? That head I'm using isn't drilled out so for now I cant figure the routing of hoses . Whew does this make sense ? Thanks HM P.S. Tried loading some pictures of what I'm working with but couldn't sort that out either.

Ok my mistake open chamber head u 67 and I appreciate the advice will drill out the head next time I have it opened up Thanks one less worry

any advice on what to do , I have a set of dual Hitachi's on my L 20 engine I've changed to a closed chamber head and this head does not have the water chamber that cools the intake manifold. Can using it without the flow have detrimental results ? Thanks HM

HI Hey I'm working on a L 20 B motor (77 200 S X ) can any one tell me hoses go that are on the housing for the radiator pick up hose. There are two outlets smaller than the the radiator hose barb. Seems like one should go the heater core or the fitting at the rear of the head. Porcupines had a rubber lunch and I cant remember how I had it plumbed. Thanks HM
