  1. I started with a theme, but it's virtually gone at this point. I built pretty much everything myself once the theme gave me ideas. I didn't do anything with CSS, just stuck to using the WordPress tools. Walk before I run, you know?
  2. After what felt like a million hours of teaching myself Wordpress, formatting pages, and resizing photos, I've finally gone live with the totally new version of www.MichaelsVintageRacing.com! It's got tons of cool photos, info about our cars and drivers, our 2018 schedule, and more! Please take a minute to give it a look and share any input!
  3. The Z's first race weekend with me is over, and it went great! The car had no issues, it ran great, and I had an absolute blast learning about it! The welded rear was a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to learning how to make one work. The road gearing is a bit wider than ideal but very usable, and once I started double-clutching The gearbox worked very well. I surprised a lot of people with the car's pace, including myself! I can't wait to get the car out again as we continue to make improvements. Pictures are coming soon!
  4. Any thoughts on the yellow running down the rocker or not? That scheme is growing on me as well, although the all-yellow top still seems a bit loud.
  5. I tallied up the whopping 169 votes I received in the livery poll, and here are the final scores! Type 1: 73 votes Type 2: 27 votes Type 3: 58 votes Type 4: 11 votes These are some designs I and various fans came up with in the meantime! If you have any opinions of these or any other ideas, feel free to share!
  6. I can mock that up for you. I'm using Forza Motorsport 6, a racing game I play sometimes. It's been very helpful for this because I can't draw for crap
  7. That's an interesting point, I wouldn't have known. Ah, like a rally-type thing? That's a thought. Kind of like the front of the hood on the Cortina, I suppose :) Thank you! Thanks for the welcome! The original color isn't bad, but I'd like to use our shop colors for this car. Especially if it becomes a car people can drive themselves, I'd like it to stand out as ours.
  8. Thanks! I'm very excited about the Webers myself; I love seeing them on all the other cars in the shop, but having a third one there just seems that much more special :) Thanks! I sense a bit of alterior motive in your plan there.... :D I'll give that link a look after work. Someone had suggested maybe trying a blue stripe in design 3 like the yellow stripe in #1; I may give that a try. Thanks for the input!
  9. I've been having some fun coming up with potential liveries for the Datsun, and I'd like to get some opinions! Which do you think looks best? Any other ideas I should try? The colors came out a bit funky for some reason, but it's the same color scheme the Ginetta uses:
  10. Hey, small world! Haha, I'll do what I can to fit in :) By the way, I know the car isn't "actually" a 240. It's a 74.5 260 with a 240 engine and brakes. Since the car will then run as a 240, it seemed the least awkward to refer to it that way. I've apparently already ruffled some feathers on a couple other forums by being unclear about that... Thanks!
  11. Hi everyone! My name is Mike Clifford, and my father and I run Michael's Vintage Racing. We work on mostly British cars at our shop, but Z-cars have always caught my attention at the track and I've kept one eye open in case something appeared at the right time. Luckily, that time has come! This is all new ground for me, but I've already got a list of things I'm excited to do to the car I've been reading up the past few days on Zs to familiarize myself, and I want to absorb as much information as I can ASAP. I've been reading about: Basic information Weak spots with race cars Differences between 240/260/280 cars If there's anywhere else I should definitely go, I'm looking forward to it!
  12. Hi everyone! I'm brand new here, but not new to Datsuns. My father and I have a vintage race shop in New York state (Michael's Vintage Racing) and we run against all manner of 210s, 240 and 260Zs, and 510s. I actually missed out on a 1970 240Z ITS car I'd hoped to make into a vintage racer... Anyway, I'm bumping this old thread because I'm in a bit of a pickle. I've just bought a set of very nice C-Orthoped seats which I'm super excited to install. I've found two small issues. First, the lumbar bladders on one seat are not filling up equally. The bottom bladder takes almost all the air, leaving the center and upper bladders almost empty. I can fill those bladders if I unplug the lower one, but they seem to fill more slowly. I think this may be the one-way valves sticking in the hoses; any thoughts? Second, the lower bolster adjustment on one seat appears to be stuck. It's currently all the way in, but the crank gets very hard to turn before the bolster moves outward at all. I'm very nervous to force it. Thank you all in advance for any info or leads you may be able to provide. -Mike
