1. I placed a wanted ad on Gumtree and received a few replies unfortunately nothing of any benefit so far. One reply I received was telling me about Zeke, but as I don't have facebook I am so far unable to contact him, I have asked that he be directed to my gumtree ad so hopefully I will be able to find him. Heading to a swap meet on the weekend so will make a wanted ad for there as well you just never know what some old farmer has in the back of his shed. Have to follow up with a wrecking yard that I pointed towards yesterday. I'm still along way from needing my tail lights and back bumper so still have some time to continue the search.
2. I think the fan guard would have had to be added to get a roadworthy certificate here in Australia. I don't seem to be able to find a clear image of what my engine should look like or where to find the engine number. Once the husband has played with it for a while and decides it's ready to pull out I may have more luck.
3. Speedo Temp Drop down compartment Rear window latches. Cant see anything that resembles what you have in your pics Wayno. No jack but both handles Going to try and get the seats out today ( if the rain hold off) and maybe start removing external strips/ badges etc ready to start on some body work.
4. I will get some better pics of the gauges once the rain settles and I will have a look at the rear window catchesand try to get some clear close up photos for you Wayno. I do have the compartment on the inside right hand side in the back (was thinking it maybe for the Jack). Haven't been able to locate an engine number as yet.
5. Don't think this is going to just buff out: In a lot better condition than I expected.
6. Well today was going to be spent pulling off what needs to come off but the rain has put a halt to that so here I am instead. Over the weekend decided to wash 10+ years worth of dirt, mud horse hair and moss off the girl. Wow what a difference a high pressure hose makes. Before After This would have to be my favorite photo of her to date A big job ahead of me but well worth the effort I think.
7. The thought of keeping the paint has been tossed around unfortunately some of the panels are way to banged up for that to be possible left rear especially. The right side of the truck is pretty straight except for under the door where it has been pushed right back in. The left side is real bad,( full of filler that needs to be ground out, one suggestion that was made was to cut and re-plate that entire section but I have decided that I would rather a few scars on her than having her chopped up. Yeah the older Holdens aren't especially rare over here but finding one that is at least usable is getting harder and a lot more expensive, the problem is they made so many of them that when they died they were scrapped, at one point you could get one for about $500 registered and on the road where as now it can cost more than that just for a front panel that is banged up and needs a heap of hours work
8. Yeah I have made it perfectly clear that she's my baby and will be as original as possible.
9. The funny thing with that is if he had his way he would drop his enginge right in and jump it down to make fit if he could, when I first said I was going to buy this his first reaction was it would probably look cool with a blower hanging out the bonnet, he would supercharge grandma's wheelchair if he thought he would get away with it. (total rev head is my husband) Where I like the classic original look so its just a good thing he hated my little girl (although she is starting to grow on him) & I adore her.
10. Not to sure whats there still have to go back out and pick it all up. The tray was pretty full (of junk) Some moron has used it as a shooting rig in the past so it had a cage bolted onto the tray which is now gone. a lighter socket mounted into the roof behind the back seat & the tailgate is getting banged up by the tow bar so that will go ASAP. Did do a little bit of a clean up yesterday with more pics taken. Will start a project thread shortly with before and after pics as I go.
11. Thanks Charlie. That will come in very handy.
12. Yeah I got lucky the husband is a whizz when it comes to body/ panel and paint and mechanical stuff. He's just about finished his HQ 1 tonner drag car (can see his work here) http://s1320.photobucket.com/user/Datto63/library/Cha-Ching so now we can get a start on my little beast. Been looking for a parts car only ones I can find so far are all ad's from a few years ago but will continue to attend swap meets and farm sales and have alerts set up on ebay. So for now will just get started on the body/engine work and see where it takes us.
13. Thanks for that Wayno. Not sure I want to keep the visor, not interested in adding the tray cover, and still undecided on the luggage rack (roof rack). Of the two tail lights I have I think I can save one with some minor work ">http:// ">http://http://s1320.photobucket.com/user/Datto63/media/IMGP2030_zpscmsd7owt.jpg.html'>
14. I have one of each of the taillights. both in need of repair i Will keep looking for a set as well as look at getting some made. Today's plan is to start the job of evicting spiders and the like which will hopefully shed some light on the engine. Have had discussions with a mate who seems to think it is an A type engine but personally I believe it be an E1 Will go in search of an engine number. Anyone know if the truck had the front visor or is it something added as well as a roof rack?
15. This is how I found her: Home at last undercover
