  1. I wanted to share how I upgraded my lap belts to 3 point seat belts in case others were wondering. I purchased my seat belts from "Seat Belt Plus". I decided to go with the non retractable style as I was not sure if there would be fitment issues with the bench seat. Direct Link: https://www.seatbeltsplus.com/product/CH300.html First here is a picture of my truck. Its a 1969 s If your truck came with factory lap belts you will need to modify the pillar and install a support plate to allow usage of the 3 point seat belts. Here is what I ordered: First off I drilled a hole in the pillar to match the plate. Then I used some wire to thread the plate behind the pillar. Its an easy fit past the headliner. I then secured the plates with rivets Now your ready to start mounting your new belts... Using the provided hardware everything is simply bolt in. For the lap belts lower pillar mounting points I simply reused the same hardware. Mine were in decent shape. AND here is the end result Overall, I am pretty happy with the result. Decent price, good quality and generally easy install!!

    Seat belts?

Slightly off topic... I asked a similar question earlier this year and I would now like to share photos of my 3 point belt install as it'll make more sense, but I am having a hell of a time getting imgur links to work on my posts...never seemedo be an issue in the past? anyone have recent issues? I just get a red box when pasting links..
  3. I Nice I have the same hub. I think ill hold off on the QR for now.
  4. Hey! I have been following your build. Your truck looks sweet. I was wondering if you could share details/Part #s on the NRG hub and quick release you used. The site doesn't list anything for 521, but I do have one off my old 620. Not sure if they are the same. Also, does the hub/QR push the wheels out towards you a lot? Saw someone on youtube use a different brand system and it look uncomfortably close lol. Thanks
  5. Also here is my truck!
  6. Wow thanks for the advice and links everyone. Definitely feel better tackling this mini project now. I don't have the pre made holes (see photo 1) but think I can make it work. Here are some photos of my pillar and original belts. Wish I could keep them just because they are original but I have my mind set on upgrading them. Thanks again!
  7. Hi everyone, I just picked up a 1969 521 recently. I will be posting some photos later today. I was curious what seat belt mods everyone has done. My truck currently has only lap belts and no hole along the back pillar for a shoulder belt. Before I start chopping and making holes I was wondering what everyone else has done? Should I look into aftermarket options or just go to the wreckers and pull some out of another car? Is there anything I should consider for mounting in terms of harware? Is anyone familiar with the mike klotz write up? I cant seem to find it. If I am able to get something working Ill definitely post a write up with pics. Thanks and always appreciate any advice!

  9. thanks guys :) small update.... My window squeegees were all dry and brittle. Saw some on ebay but theyre fairly expensive and read they aren't good quality. I also someone use ~1994 4runner tailgate window squeegees instead. So I purchased two. You can find them in your local junkyard probably. I cut them to size and popped them in! They make a huge difference. I also found a center console on craigslist. Cleaned it and patched some spots with a plastic filler. Then sanded it down and painted it with the bed armor spray I used on the dash and steering column cover. all finished..
  10. WOW thanks everyone!!! and yes! sorry for the late reply! I used spray can duplicolor bed armor for the dash, steering wheel column cover, and center console. It turned out great and is still holding up well.
  11. Thanks. I think maybe around December/January and it has held well since. Durable and no fading. I followed a DIY dash repair thread on a 240z.
  12. I also wanted to upgrade the lighting and ended up finding these turn signal lights from ebay....and halo lights from ebay (cheap 50 for the set!) alll mounted..... (you might notice I also mounted some side mirrors....found them on amazon for 11$ each! :) ) and testing the lights..... I read on a landcruiser forum how a person cleaned and repainted their mud flaps.....I used a white paint pen to go over the datsun logo to freshen them up haha Now this is a project I've wanted to do for the longest time....I always wanted to do a DIY bedliner as the alternatives were too expensive (more than the car itself in most cases). So I did a fair amount of research and ended up picking up the raptor liner diy spray on kit. I found it on amazon and it cost approx 100. Here are some before and after pictures (including sanding/priming and painting) AND finally after having been in the garage for almost a year....we brought it outside to give it a wash. We had some left over polishing compound (meguairs ultimate) and figured we would try bringing out some of the color. You can really tell the difference between the cab and bed... Totally forgot how small this pickup is after having it indoors for so long!!!! aaaaand this is it for now but have a lot more planned....Thanks for reading :)
  13. Hi everyone, So I wanted to post an update and share some images of my progress since my last post. Prepare for a photo dump. First off I wanted to work on the wheels so I looked around until I found these white walls on craigslist. The wheels themselves had lots of rust, therefore requiring LOTS of sanding, vinegar dips and lots of patience.... This is after soaking in vinegar for a few days.... Then primed and painted...... I also managed to find some grill rings on craigslist to complete my set and cleaned them up along with the dog dish caps for the wheels..... I then epoxy glued them to the grill (thanks for tip!!!) Next I wanted to work on the hood trim. I followed a DIY post on this forum and was able to insert new bolts as mine all broke when removing the trip. Thanks!! I bought some screw and grinded down washers to make them fit..... and complete ready to be mounted ....painted with a plasti dip so it would be uniform with the grill I wanted the steering wheel column to be uniform with the dash as well so I ended up cleaning it and painting it too (I figured id do the side vents aswell) I've always wanted a wood grain steering wheel, so I kept on the lookout and eventually found this nardi wheel on craigslist. Because of the different bolt patterns I had to also purchase an NRG hub and spacer (which has different bolt patterns) to allow the wheel to fit. The NRG hub was a little more expensive than other hubs but seemed worth it based on unfavorable reviews and safety concerns over the ebay hubs. (i found a generic horn button and ring on amazon and also purchased a horn button sticker to complete the look) test fitting....
  14. Thanks guys!! I am gonna give this try after I clean up the rings and make them shine. Also question, Can anyone suggest any wheels that could be a direct bolt on without modifications? I dont have the disk break conversion so im not sure how fitting would be. Id like to keep the original wheels, but havent had any luck finding white wall tires. I was thinking of maybe putting on Frontier wheels? I wish I had the disk brake conversion to put on titan wheels though.
  15. Decided to repaint the grill. Used black plastidip. Also repainted the emblem with some outdoor paint. all put together... Found some beauty rings recently...but all the tabs are broken....any ideas on how to fasten them on? Gave the taillight housings a good cleaning...sanded them and repainted them. Decided to give them the chrome/metal look. on the truck...
