  1. Hey so I finally got around to replacing all the flex hoses, wheel cylinders, and master cylinder. Let the car sit for 5 days to find a hard brake pedal. I re adjusted the master cylinder push rod and brake light switch and I have pretty good pedal feel now. I did cut off a very small section of the push rod without removing the master using a cut off wheel. Hope you're able to sort out the issue.
  2. A little TL;DR, but I'm having the same problem on mine, also a '71 521. One thing I didn't see mentioned was the old brake lines, the flexible ones, may be causing the issue. What happens when the lines get old is the inside starts falling a part and can make sort of a one way check valve. If the brake pedal feels normal after sitting for an extended period, the pressure is bleeding too slowly, and this may be the cause. I'm in the process of replacing my brake components right now, I'll let you know how it goes in the future.
  3. The guy I bought it from had a yellow 510 saloon. I believe he posted it up shortly after I bought the truck, not sure what happened to it. I don't have a bed to put on it at this time. The plan is to run just a cab with just the frame in the rear, or possibly make a diamond plate cover for the rear. I don't plan on hauling anything with it nor does it have the power to do so lol, and I'm not particularly found of the flat bed. It's just thick steel and probably weighs a few hundred pounds.
  4. Hate to break hearts, but the flatbed will be removed eventually.
  5. It certainly is the one posted on Denver CL a few weeks ago. I think I paid a little much for it, but it's whatever.
  6. Yeah sort of, but it's truly blank.
  7. I have no idea. That's just how it was. It's hard telling anything about a car so old with no work history.

Well, here it is... my first Datsun, always thought it would be a 280z. Oh well. More to come!
  9. Hey guys, sorry about the photos. I hadn't taken any when I made my account here. So quick update, it's actually a 1971 521 (production date June 1971 according to door placard). I've been working on the truck as I can after work. I don't have any pictures of the interior, which is currently being torn apart, and I just ordered all new brake parts: drums, wheel cylinders, hardware, master cyl. you name it. There was a problem driving it home. The brakes seem to build pressure and not release it fast enough causing the brakes to remain applied, thus causing the engine to want to stall out. It's got a few broken wheel studs in the rear. The frame is straight and rust free, and the floor pans look pretty solid. There is actually very minimal rust on the truck. I hope to get some photos up as I work on it and make the truck right. Bought it from a hobbyist, which is no problem, I just have a higher standard for the work done to the vehicles I work on.
  10. Hey everyone, just making a first post. Just picked up a '72 521, pretty excited about it. Not sure how active these forums are, but you'll probably hear about the truck as I work on it. Thanks in advance, Drew
