  1. My steering box on my 521 has developed a good leak from the cover where the steering column goes into. I am sure the gasket just needs replacing so my question is to replace the gasket is it a simple job? Are there any surprises going to fall out or jump out when I remove it? Do I have to pull the steering column to do the repair? Just trying to cover my butt seeing how its the steering column I want to be safe and not kill my self or anyone else on the road.
  2. Thanks so much for all your help I truly appreciate it. The sending unit was stuck. I taped on the tank with a hammer and it came unstuck. I hope its stays working. Thanks again for all your help and sharing your knowledge with all of us
  3. I put the yellow wire to ground and turn the key on and yes the gauge moved up.
  4. This is my last electrical issue then I am hopping to just enjoy my 521. So here is the deal, my fuel gauge stop working a month ago it would read e when truck was off then go to f when key was on. I ran all the test you guys recommend with no result. So while fixing another electrical issue I found 2 broke wires in my harness under the truck going to the back. A red and blue wire then a black and white wire.I connected them back together and now my gauge stays on e even when truck is running. So I ran my test light to the yellow wire from the gas tank and my test light is only half the brightness it usually is and its flashing when the key is on. I even checked the yellow wire where it plugs into the harness at the firewall and have the same result there.
  5. Thank you so much I feel silly it was a fuse blown
  6. I checked the flashers they are both good. There is no power going to the turn signal flasher when the key is on.where would be the next place to check?
  7. Ok I love my 521 and have put so much time and money into it the last few months. I am just really getting frustrated with electric issues. I fix one issue and two more pop up. Now my turn signals stop working. They were fine and now just stop. All the running lights work, hazards work, when you turn on turn signals nothing happens, no dash light comes on the lights on the outside lights do nothing. I read on here to switch relays but don't know where the relays are on a 521. Any other ideas? I am also willing to pay someone to resolve these issues I HATE electrical work! I am located in Sacramento California
  8. I had new floors put in the truck few weeks ago and apparently they cut the tail light wire in the wire harness that goes under the cab.so I saw I had power at the plug next to starter but not at the end of the bed. So after hours of cutting into harness and digging the red and blue wire I narrowed it to a section where I unraveled the harness and found the culprit the red and blue wire cut completely threw. Also found a white wire with black stripe cut as well. Not sure where it goes to but it obviously cut.Any ideas what this wire is? Thanks for the help and input
  9. My tail lights and rear running lights stop working.brake lights, head lights and front running lights are fine. Have power going to rear of truck but still no lights.
  10. The gauge does drop to empty when the key is off, and reads past full when you turn the key on. Should I try your test you recommend still? Or am I looking at a different issue?
  11. I unplugged the plug and the gauge did drop to E. I cleaned the plug with electrical cleaner and a wire brush. Is there anymore test I can do to narrow it down?
  12. The gauge did not drop when I unhooked the yellow wire. Any idea where I can check for a ground issue? Or any chance it could be a gauge issue?
  13. Awesome I will check. Thanks for the help.
  14. I am having fuel gauge issues as well. It was working fine and now reads full when truck is on no matter how much fuel is in it and and goes down to E when I shut truck off. The temp gauge is still working like it should. Any suggestions?
  15. Thanks for all the help and info. You guys are great! I will play with the heater and see what I get. So from what I am getting the blowing power is weak?
