On the last part ... what part are you talking about? Lost me a little....
I had issues with my 521 when I ordered new wheel cylinders.... should have been Sae everything said it was sae but what i received was metric... just be carefull...

Bad news today. Spitting lots of water droplets and a good about of steam out of the exhaust with carbonized droplets when up to temperature. I'm thinking crackers head gasket ? Maybe a crack somewhere in the block ? Hope not because it's bloody hard to find L20bs in New Zealand.

How long has it been since it ran last?
Let it run for a bit, might just be from sitting...
Make sure it's not overheating and you can also check look for bubbles in the coolant.
Also Check your oil and coolant for contamination as distributorguy suggested maybe run a compression check....

Well not gonna get those pics that 520 rear end I have is rustier than I realized ... drums are gonna need a lot of persuading, no idea if anything is even in there for brake parts, .... I bought it as a trailer because I needed the bed but I didn't wanna just throw the diff away....

I can try and take a pic later.... datzenmike has me questioning how I installed my shoes on my 521.. the whole leading/ trailing thing. .. I also have a 520 rear axle assembly in my basement should be easy to pop the drum off and have a look and snap a pic....

Well things are moving along....
Modified my shifter, nice and tight and I was able to pin the handle to I doesn't move.....


Got all the brake hardline bent and all connected.... all boring pics....
I also installed my prop valve....


Need to bleed the system and I should have working brakes...
So I should be on track for a joy ride on August 2nd...
Should probably get the seat belts installed since I won't have any doors on it... don't need the wife falling out on our anniversary, that won't get me laid..

I noticed that they are made different, drivers side bracket is not straight ..

This is what they looked like before I took them off. They looked perfectly centered comparing were they align with the tail lights.

Thinking about remounting and cutting them and just adding extensions to the bumperettes.
Kinda hate to cut them up though.

I wonder if they are suppose to be both straight... I would venture to say that bumper got hit at some point in it's life..
Either way Personnaly I wouldn't cut them but just use as a templet... I would redo the whole plate to suit your need.. it's just flat metal with holes, plus you'll always have the original for reference ....
And if you mess up you didn't just ruin something obsolete....

Maybe but leather gets so hot in the summer....
I hadn't really given it a thought,
But reupolstering falls at the end of this build on the wish list for money reasons....

Glad it's working out....
Watch out with the pistons.... I was using assembly lube and it's a little sticky.... it pulled one of the bearing halfs off the rod while I was trying to install the cap.... I got lucky and noticed...

Just make sure the bearings stay in place and I would rotate the engine as you finish each one and make sure no binding...
Take your time and dont force anything ...
Can't wait to see it in the car.....

What is correct orientation for the rod installation?

Maybe lay them out as you think they will go in the motor, if your lucky pistons will be facing forward and rods will be in the correct orientation to satisfy both rod and piston orientaion..
