  1. Did all the tests and the other starter when it was out of the motor would engage but when I would put it in for some reason it would not engage the motor. I ended up just buying a new starter and replacing that and now it starts flawlessly.

    Gas hose

Does anybody know if I can just get a standard gas hose and cut it to size to fit? The only thing I don’t know is how it attaches up by the body where the fuel cap is located. they currently will dump fuel when I make a left-hand turn or if I overfill it will come pouring out of there so I know it’s this little rubber piece. any suggestions as to where I can get this unless if it’s just a generic hose from AutoZone and how hard is it to replace?
  3. I’m looking for a new starter and wanted to see what the best choice was and what everyone is running? Also, is there a difference in starters for manual transmission vs automatic? I have a 75 710.
  4. Ok thanks I’ll give that a try tomorrow. I do know that when I attempt to start it the starter does make a clicking sound like it’s trying to engage if that makes a difference.
  5. it’s a manual. I also checked the terminals to the battery and the wire that goes to the starter everything is solid. My only conclusion could be I got two bad starters but that would be very high odds.
  6. Looked at it today and tried jumping it and what it’s doing is making a clicking noise from this unit up against the firewall which I’m not 100% sure what it is. Does anybody know what this is? after this part clicks which I can hear and I put my hand on and I could feel it inside then the starter clicks like it’s trying to start with a dead battery. any thoughts or am I way out there?
  7. Thank you for that info I will give that a shot this coming weekend and see if I can get some data. I thought maybe it would be the battery but I had that checked and it’s still good and I have a tender on it. unfortunately the old starter is long gone I’ve gone through a few starters over the past couple years. I do agree these secondary starters do suck. That’s why at first it made the clicking sound as if it were the starter, so I replaced it. And then the new one I had did the exact same thing
  8. I’ve never had this problem but when I tried to start my 710 wagon it just makes a clicking noise. I already have changed the starter, so I know that’s not the issue. does anybody know if these run a starter relay or a fuse that can blow causing the motor not to turn over? I know it’s receiving power because the light inside is turning on and on the dash.
  9. got one from rock auto and a new pump just in case. Ill see how that goes today. Thanks for the info and help
  10. I did not know there was supposed to be a spacer there. I’ve never had one since I’ve owned the car for 4 years. Is that a part that Nissan carries or is it something that lame hard to come by. I have always been running just the gasket between the header and fuel pump. that makes sense that the pumps come with 2 gaskets. if you have a photo Id appreciate it.
  11. I am looking for the best mechanical fuel pump for my 710 with an L20b motor. I have gone through 3 of them from auto part stores locally in less than a month. Looking at converting to an electronic fuel pump down the road so any suggestions in one or complications in installing one are also appreciated. Thanks.
  12. Good to know. thank you for the input!
  13. WOW, definitely not a drop in move. I will begin looking for a trans that I will be able to work with. Thank you for your input on this! Kind of random, but since you also have a 710 wagon, what do you think is a good red line number to be safe? I researched and everyone is saying something different. I do have the duel side draft carbs with headers, but I am more worried about the internal parts. I usually am just cruising around town, but every so often I will get on it and wondered what is a safe RPM. I don't go over 5000 currently but don't know if 5500 or 6000 is safe?
  14. Thanks for the info LenRobertson. I will bump it up at the end of the week so he can give his input.
  15. Thank you. I do have someone that has a dog lag 5 speed out of a 77 260Z. Is this a possible option?
