  1. Refitted the doors after cutting the one side out and perfect gap (better then when I bought it) I had welded braces in both sides before cutting anything but only have one on the passenger side floor now ( can be seen in the pic) comes from the tranny tunnel to the door sil. I will weld in the drivers floor before removing the brace. Really surprised at how well the body stays square but there's no weight on it and really no forces front to back that make it go out of whack. When I lift it up I put a 2x4 on each side across the lift arms and it spans the whole body rear fender to front fender
  2. Fuel system update, Temporarily welded on the new sump on the tank and ground everything flat. Will finish welding all the old holes closed this week followed by sandblasting the tank then cleaning and coating the inside before coating the outside. Made the panel for mounting my Walbro 255 fuel pump, K motor fuel filter and Aeromotive fuel pressure regulator. Bead rolled for strength then flange rolled back for aerodynamics ( dont want it flapping in the breeze. 2 more fittings ordered for the tank and FPR and a 12mm banjo to 6an fitting to go in the stock location on the fuel rail so I can keep the Fuel pulse dampener on the rail. I had a 12x1.25mm to 6an adapter and was going to run it straight off the end of the rail but don't want problems with injectors.
  3. Well lost another couple of weekends on the build because JEG's like to drop ship from vendors, ending up getting an oil cooler kit not the remote filter kit like i ordered. I bought the part on sept 27th got an email on the 29th saying back ordered got the wrong part on october 6th had to send back to JEG's before they would send the correct part. Been calling them every other day and they said new ship date is 10/21 and will attempt to give me 2 day air shipping, which still means I miss another weekend. Next time I will not order anything from JEG's, I am so surprised a national company cant compete with Ebay sellers for product delivery.
  4. Terolla is correct, the red top beams was the 4th gen 1sr version used in JDM MR2's only had vvti and was transverse mounted , the blacktop is 4th gen (2nd version) with dual vvti, 11:1 compression and the only 3sg rwd from the factory. In the pictures I don't have the the black valve cover with the beams logo on because I don't want to break or scratch it during installation
  5. All the bad panels are completely cut out and replaced with fresh metal, not leaving any rot in body when I'm done ! Jelmer
  6. The finger lakes region, by conesus lake about 1:15 minutes from pa If you take 15( I99)
  7. If you notice many of the pics are out of order and many things have changed or been fixed, from here on out it will be less confusing.
  8. The altezza 6spd tranny is actually really cool how you can change the location of the shifter just by unbolting 4 bolts driving out the push pull pin and flipping the assembly around.exactly 4 inches forward it moves, I think it was designed to be used in other cars but I don't know if they did
  9. Yeah the hood closes perfectly. I probably won't get a chance to work on it to much this weekend, only Saturday off. But I plan on installing the remote oil filter. I had to shave the side of the oil pan / sump area where the oil filter should go because I have only 1" of clearance after sectioning the crossmember. Had to take off the trans, oil sump, pan and aluminum housing off the engine mill it flat and then tap and plug the hole for the filter inlet ( not a big deal because the oil galley goes all the way to front of the motor ) and then drill the return larger and tap that hole and put a 1/4npt fitting in it. Hope the last fitting comes in the mail to tomorrow or I will finish it when I get back from Michigan on Thursday. Also sandblasting the fuel tank and welding the original lines flat with the tank and then welding in a bottom sump with 6an send and return fittings. Got a walbro 255 Inline and 100 micron aluminum filter coming Tuesday, my fuel pressure regulator came in today so next weekend should be the fuel system install, may need to overnight some part from Japan (F&F) and finish it the week after. Also got my MAF this week and a eBay 06 civic intake I will cut up for the sensor holder, use the silicon tubes and air filter. Then need to figure out the electrical. I just bought is300 fuse and relay boxes for the same year as the rs200 hoping I can make that work. My goal is to get it running before snowfalls here in NY and I need the garage for other things for 4-5 months
  10. The last week of august this year I picked up a 65 1500 basket case . Floor boards rotten, drive train not installed, previously in an accident for $1000. I had always wanted a 311 and this fit my budget. I know the car will take almost a year to complete because I can only work on it on weekends as it is in my dads shop and I travel a lot for work so weekends I am not even around. I also knew I wanted a high hp, screaming rev NA engine to go with it and increase my pleasure of driving the roadster. After looking around for high hp NA JDM engines I came across the black top 3sge beams motor with the 6spd trans from the Altezza 200 RS and was really intrigued with the sound, the revs and hp it put out for a 2.0 NA (210hp almost 170ft torque) which is not too shy from what an sr20det puts out ( I am not dissing the SR20, I thought about a sr20de swap extensively before deciding on the Toyota motor) relatively cheaper and available. Only problem I could not find anyone who has done this swap before, but many people have put them in AE86's so there's a little bit of information on the motor out there. 4 weeks have gone by and I have completed some minor floor board and shell repairs, modified the chassis, fitted the motor and trans and made mounts. Currently I am acquiring the necessary parts to get the engine running and after that I will put my focus back on the body. Any info or comments are welcome, Please don't bash on me putting a Toyota motor in my Datsun. If the Datsun was not so far gone I would never do such a swap but almost 90% of the car will not be original. THANKS NEW YORK for SALT and RUST !!!!!
