  1. Thanks mate. I'll have another look under the dash. It is strange, I would of thought that the fuse would blow when the light is on, closed loop...
  2. HI Guys, hope to get some advice here. Been chasing an electrical issue which I have narrowed down. Ute has been constantly blowing fuses and it appears to be running fine whilst parked, it will idle fine, but once I release the hand brake/ think it's called Park brake in US the fuse blows. It is the regulator, meter fuse. I have changed alternator, regulator, changed all rear lights and played around looking for a short, but now believe that it is the hand brake which is blowing fuse. Would appreciate other experiences or advice. Thanks Braden

HI Guy's, haven't posted in some time. I have been working a lot on the 620 though. Changed a lot of parts, need to list, but I know old Datto's all need a lot of work. Still enjoy playing with it. Need to change the rear gearbox oil seal. Any advice from those who have done it, would be apprceciated.

Thanks mate, I have done a lot, but don't want to change the patina of truck, love that. I have brought a couple of sets of wheels, which will be fun. Lots of ideas, trying to fix issues before I go into aesthetics, paint, etc

The 620 has had a lot of attention lately, and some unplanned breakdowns. I have brought another 620 for parts, some have made it onto the 620 others to move on. Brought the other, pretty much for the bench seat, which is lovely, but have transplanted much more than I thought I would. Good way to learn about the car as well Beauty and the beast...

HI Gents, I posted up some pics, before on "Project Datto" but figured here was a better place to have a continued thread as I'm not going "all-out" and just want to continue my time with the 620. I have been literally dreaming of getting a car that was different from my others, I keep on dreaming of something I could get dirty, or sandy, the dog could sit in, something to go surfing in,and I could fix myself. I have been into Renaultsport cars (you guys unfortunately don't get in the US) for the last 7 or so years, and have enjoyed the speed and driving mountain roads with like minded blokes, but was after something different. The 620 had lived a life as a farm car, it was picked up and given another life by a couple of owners in the last few years, now me. I purchased the car inter-state and drove for 16 hours in one go, to get home, in 40 deg heat. Hit a wombat, got eaten alive by bugs, but all the price you pay. The ute has been a lot of fun since I got it, I've learnt a lot already, my son how doesn't like any of my cars, loves this one. The neighbours told me they saw him kissing his girlfriend on the bench seat, whilst in the driveway. I figure it's payed for itself already. Plans for the 620 are to keep fixing the list of issues that I have, but not to be too worried about them, old car, lots of noises. I would like to keep body looking as is, but have a very detailed engine. Time will tell. I have been working on engine bay, trying to clean 40 years of grease and crap. My current toy, Renaultsport Megane Cup Trophy 250, a little different to the ute. Poor thing hasn't been getting much love, since the 620.

    Pez's 1976 620

Interior photo as asked. Pretty simply. I tore out carpet and pretty much anything else. I wanted it as metal as possible, just a lot of cleaning and organising. Still have a coolant leak from heater area, not sure about where. Got to have a few issues to worry about.... As for lowering, sorry noob on 620's, will need to look into difference as when I picked it up it was on the bump stops, I had to adjust to get ute "Rego'd" and now want to find a happy middle point of being low as possible but still drivable.

How much on the front? Too much, was resting on bump stops for some time, but now about an inch above bump stops. Not great for comfort, may lift a touch more. Been thinking about cutting or fitting smaller bump stops, to keep lowness and some drivability. Yes, three on back.

It's Straya Day here today, so bring it on. Thanks for the warm welcome gents. Great site, still trying to get my head around how to access all the info I need on here. It does have great patina, cheers, just worried about climate here where it rains nearly everyday. Thinking Ankor wax, to preserve as is.
  13. Hi Guys, new to Ratsun and Datsun's. Post No1. I have been looking for a drivable 620 for some time, as they are quite rare here in Australia. Theses a few wrecks but not much else, never actually seem one in real life, but knew it was my next project. So found this one inter-state and drove 16 hours to get it home. He's a rust old boy, but seems to be solid and fun, I've spent most of my holidays working on it and he is looking the goods. Plan is to keep body as is, and keep fixing up all the little and not so little jobs. It will be a surf truck and dog hauler, my dog loves it, as soon as the door is open he jumps in a goes to sleep. I've been loving this site, lots of inspiration, support and information. I have been driving various Renaultsports for the last 7 years and was looking for a project that I could get work on. The 620 has been through a few different owners in the last couple of years, but spent most of its life as a farm truck, which is cool, with all the scratches, patina and marks all over. Photo from previous life. Cheers Gents, hope you guys enjoy another old Datto getting too much love...
