  1. Man, I wish I had some cash to throw at you. That's a beautiful datto.
  2. I've penciled it in for February ... 2018. These things take time. It took me two years just to open the garage door and push the 180b out.
  3. Yep. L20b. AKA Datsun 200b. I think most came complete with local genius ideas ... like replacing the 180b's IRS rear end with a live axle! Dumb pricks.
  4. Thanks, Mike. You truly are a font of information. Some of it even good!! ;)
  5. Mike, do you have a suggestion on what 5 speed is the best to bolt up to a stock L20?
  6. Bit more hunting on the net... Looks like a 200b 4 speed. Just another reason for me to hate that model.
  7. I was told it was a 5 speed when I got it a couple of years ago. Swapped it and an L20 for a set of stock rims. Was pretty happy with the exchange. Got home went through the gears... mmm, must have dropped one out somewhere on the way back home! Put it in the garage and forgot about it. Mike, I just went through them again then and this seems to be the shift pattern: R 1 3 |___|___| | | 2 4 RatWagon, the google search I did also seemed to point to the 4 speed. But there is scant info out there. This morning I had myself convinced I was finding a first gear below that reverse shift. I didn't want to look too hard though, because I was living in faint hope that it might be a five speed! :)
  8. Okay, so I've been wanting a 5 speed manual for some time to put in my 180B (610) ... 'cause it's presently an auto. Anyway, I've been delaying the necessary transplant for a few reasons: 1) lazy 2) no 5 speed box 3) no pedal box 4) hurts my head buying clutch, flywheel, master and slave cylinder. Not the actual 'buying' ... more the resulting 'where's the money gone?' interrogation from the boss. Now, I do have a couple of manual boxes. Both 4 speeds; one and old 180b stock box and the second, a newer 4 speed. Or so I assumed. Truth is, I haven't a clue what it is. (910 4 speed, maybe?) Can anyone enlighten me? Bearing in mind this is an Australian gearbox.
  9. Gonna give it a go again this afternoon. Start from scratch.
  10. I'm able to screw the idle mixture screw all the way in without the engine stalling. Maybe someone put on a bigger jet than what I need? I could just take it to the weber workshop down the road but I hate not knowing how to tune it, given that the carbs are a pretty simple design. Unfortunately, the design of my brain is even simpler!
  11. Thanks, Daniel. I might have another fiddle with the carb. Less maybe more by the sound of it. I reckon it ran better before I re-tuned it!!
  12. Yeah, I think I might be too keen. That's the problem with having access to something that's free. You are right, Hainz. Sticking with the 32/36 probably is the smartest idea. Best bet is to probably whack a manual box on a toss the auto. I've got two four speeds sitting here.
  13. Okay, so ignoring my father's interesting review of dear old ma's venturi action, I'd like to ask you - the great unwashed masses of Ratsun - if it is worth putting my brother's set of twin 45 Weber's on my stock L20 auto? It currently has a 32/36 on it. But I want moaaarr roaaarr. My issue is 'will it be drivable with twins and the auto behind it?'. Currently my 32/36 is pretty laggy off idle. I've had a bit of a play with it *snigger snigger* but I'm guessing that most webers have this delay unless you idle them right up. Will the twin 45s be worse in this regard, with an auto? Does any of this make sense? And do you even fucking care? Thought not.
  14. Jesus... no wonder you wear a friggin' bandana in those videos, Hainzy. It's to hide the frontal lobotomy scar, right?!! :)
