  1. I'm assuming it's 2 volt as it has no markings on it and when it seems plenty bright enough in the daylight I suppose.. Do I need to just get me a volt meter and check for volts at the plug?
  2. Haven't figured out anything yet; Also wondering.. could I be getting just enough power to run my test light, but not enough to light a headlamp?
  3. The only wire I haven't really figured out related to this whole job is this random..ground maybe? It seems to go to the headlight switch, but there is already one black wire going back towards the dash, and this one looks like it was once soldered but now is not. Do I need to make a spot to ground it? [/url]">http://http://s1060.photobucket.com/user/MattC55/media/99E44A76-CB1D-44A3-856A-E3EDD77FA28D.jpg.html'>
  4. So, I went out again today and double checked everything; Started the car, checked the plug and still had power going to both red wires with headlights "on". I tested two different bulbs by running a wire from the male blades on the light to my battery and both bulbs lit up; Good. I plug them into the car itself.. nothing. High beam, low beam, nadda... I am at a loss here; the plug is getting power but neither bulb lit up! What should I check next? I haven't checked the other side's plug... won't one light up without the other though?
  5. What color rattle can blue did you use? I need to get mine all one color for now..
  6. I have returned; I took the passenger headlight out, tried the plug.. and I have power! Two of three inserts have power, black does not which makes sense correct? I am going to get a new bulb today; Also, is it normal for the plug to be soot colored? All three seem to be charcoal gray. The three prongs on the headlight itself were clean, with a little corrosion around the very base.
  7. Excellent, thank you guys so much; I will recheck the bulb connection as soon as the rain stops.
  8. Hey all, thought i would finally throw out an SOS for help here in regards to my Z. I have posted a few times here in the forum and have been working on my car since i've posted last; I have sorted many things out, but cannot drive her due to no headlights. I had a burnt fuse box, so I wired in a new bladed one; I cleaned the high/low beam switch per instructions here (http://www.kamikazeracing.org/dl/ZTech/Rebuild_240Z_combo_switch.pdf), and still nothing. All other lights work as should, and I had a friend tell me it must be my dimmer switch, under the dash? Is he onto something? Do I need to start chasing wires for shorts? Any help or ideas are greatly appreciated!
  9. I appreciate that! Only a stone's throw from me, i'm just east of Wellington. You are right about that one, though! Although I love my Z, I do love my american muscle too.. Jack of all trades though! Hope to run into you one of these days down here in the flat lands.
  10. FINALLY SOMEONE SAID SOMETHING. Lol I figured no one read what I had to say anyways, but I was waiting for someone to pick up on that! I do... need to source a replacement... I'm sure that hodge podge has a lot to do with my gas pedal response; The throttle doesn't start engaging until about I push the gas pedal about 30% down, and then it surges up to where it should rev. So... serious throttle slack problem i'm guessing?
  11. I'm just south of Wichita; I've only seen 1 other Z in 23 years, in Kansas. And that was at a car show, no less!
  12. Bondo... Everywhere. Oil is changed, carbs are cleaned, looking for some cheap throttle linkage between firewall - carb....Cleaned the innards and took the rear bumper off, and started sanding away! The roof, after scraping at least 3/16 layered bondo off.. And.... the rear... AKA bondo city. Should I just cut it out and replace the whole rear? I was going to shave the bumpers anyway.....
  13. Slave cylinder fixed! Didn't have the key to the garage, so couldn't get my big jack..... or my clear line.... So I made do. Got my scissor jack out (Stupid and not particulary safe, but worked) and got partially underneath her in the street; Got the bolts off easy enough, but someone rounded the rubber hose bolt, so had to pipe wrench those. As suspected, I had a massive hole in the rubber boot surrounding the piston. Old slave: No, that's not a blurry man hammer, and yes, I am almost always shoe-less lol New one went on easy, bled it myself by gravity bleeding and using a hose off a spare radiator that came with the car.. And we cruised! The only gauge that works is the speedo, probably cause it's mechanical... But we went around town, stopped at the "historical" Old mill and took a couple pics: She's rough and dirty... But I love it!! I know this will be a keeper, and I can't wait to get further into it. Plans for today: Oil change, clean carbs, clean the car..... I bought a new attachment for removing surface rust, gonna knock all that off, lay down some primer for the time being, and hopefully... Clean those mags up!! They say SHELBY on the inside?... hmm.....
  14. Actually Banzai, I have no choice as of now! The P/O did it, and I was just making sure he did it the RIGHT way, no hodge podge crap! Until I can replace the lines and/or the heater itself, it's the good ol shiver routine again. Of course, I had no heat or air in my el camino.... Or the impala..... Or the styleline.... And now my eclipse really isn't blowing as hot as it used to... Guess I'm a sucker for freezing to death and then slow roasting in the summer....
  15. Of course, no slander meant for Mike in any way, I brought him up because of his status on the forum. Seems like a nice guy! I will not be using the heater regardless so I suppose if it ain't broke....
