    Help 510 Drum

those shoes move around easily, up and down, make sure the backing plate isnt blocking the drum or folded over either.
  2. also theres no mud on the inside of the wheels, not much mud anywhere in san antone
  3. i checked removed reinstalled and tightened the wheels. i noticed its making a groaning noise when i put it back on the ground (the right rear), i lifted the left rear and it was silent. im really really thinking its the RR wheel bearing even more so cause any slight movement up or down on the wheel made a groaning noise come from the drum brake. does this sound like a bearing? ive never had to diagnose or replace one..
  4. id like to change out the bearings without removing the arm, all i have is a steep driveway or limping it to a differential shop..
  5. ive been hearing a quiet womp womp in the rear of the 510 that got wayyy worse over the period of 5 days of sitting. that sound was not quick like a shaft but more of a slower rotation like a wheel or brakes. it got worse after sitting for a few days in some bad rain after i drove through a big puddle. i put it up on jacks and put it in first gear and ran it in the air.. no womp or anything. driving up and down the street i heard the womp and even felt it bump a little bit i think. i checked: lugnuts, brand new wheels and tires balanced, half shafts, u-joints. i did put a 3.70 subie lsd in 1 year ago. when i wiggled the right rear wheel at the 12 and 6 o clock position it moved about a 1/16" or possibly more while making an ugly noise. the front 280zx struts have it worse and havent had a problem with them. the back left barely at all. is there a write up with pictures on how to change out rear wheel bearings with stock drum brakes? i have manuals but the pictures suck, and details are limited. ive also searched but its all scattered, some saying use an old bearing, use a punch, use a pipe, use a bearing puller yaddah yaddah..
  6. good to meet you too.

  7. my rear fender lips are extreme i know.. i plan on making them look more natural this summer.
  8. where i bought them, and the box said -5 so i would assume that they are.. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260950835716#ht_1040wt_952
  9. and my radiator wall has been cut to fit an intercooler, my crossmember has been flipped, my tranny tunnel opened up with a car jack and sawzall covered by a apartment for rent sign, and etc.. the inner fender lip mod is just another to the list of improvements.
  10. part of the reason i got these wheels cause i believed the the bull (and had 16x7 +15 with a 5/16" spacer on the front before these..) on the510realm that you couldnt comfortably fit a 15x7 -0 lol.. i saw pics of rota shakotan and wanted even more aggressive. i had 205's before and still didnt have great traction, so i thought id rather look cool while i lose grip rather than rock wheels with a big fender gap and have no extra grip to show for it. when i have a bigger garage ill install byrons brackets, and probably be able to run -2.5 camber in the rear, and make my lip look more natural. i still have a lil gap between tire and fender.. the inner fender lip removal is done fairly often, i have a friend from portland that did it to his 2 door so he could fit some 15x7's iirc... i dont plan on using a BFH and make the lip look like a failed plastic surgery. ill post some more pics today after i get home from college
  11. theyre -5, i should have put a space in..
  12. tablet is messed up and phone doesnt like to send pics, waiting on camera from wife.. https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-iWHjCPvA47E/T3iaXI3d4FI/AAAAAAAAABo/1rJMvu9S6qY/s640/IMG_20120401_131716.jpg https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-8WSKBWG2txU/T3iaQc_LEvI/AAAAAAAAABg/fj7D5fodyiU/s640/IMG_20120401_131623.jpg
  13. i mounted some 15x8-5  rota aleica's last week.. tires: 195/45-15. the fenders are are rolled and pulled, 280zx front struts no spacers, -.5 front camber and around -3 camber for rear (stock camber and toe). need a bit more neg camber for front and will have no rub.. the rears i need to cut the inner step out still (4-door), and then no rub. i will post pictures this week. just thought id let the nay sayers :baby: know that yet another 510 is running impossible offsets, with just the right amount of---> :poke: and a slight stretch. doesnt look hella flush or ridiculous either. that is all.. :pirate:
