  1. The cylinders are from Dorman, and the drum is from Centric. Where can I find higher quality hardware? The cut on the drum is different than what I had stock on the truck (not sure if it was original or not) and it still rubbed. The inner lip on the old drum was more rounded off. Although on the drivers side it did not rub with the old drum. The aftermarket one had a drag but at first I thought it was the brakes dragging. I also grinded the drivers side down, but not as much. I also installed a Beck/Arnley master and had to cut the thread as well. I learned that from searching Ratsun and finding your post accidentally, thank you! I was able to salvage the factory Y's in the back and one of the fronts. Denmarkboy sent me a replacement for the front passenger.
  2. So, I figured it out.... the casing (perhaps a flash) on the wheel cylinder was rubbing up against the drum. Both are new aftermarket so the tolerances and manufacturing isnt the same as OEM. I have included pictures for reference. To fix it, I took a dremel with a stone attachment and grinded it down about a mm or 2. The red arrows show what was causing the bind. I hope this helps for anyone that experiences the same issues.
  3. I'll try swapping drums. I don't think it's the wheel because it will bind with just lugs.
  4. The odd thing is that it is fine on the other three and even without out the wheel and using just lugs, it would still bind.
  5. Hi Community Last night, i finished redoing my brake system on my 521 with new pads, springs, adjusters (rebuilt), cylinders, hoses, drums, and master. I am having a weird issue with the front passenger and I noticed it after I put the wheel on. When I installed the wheel on the truck, it stopped spinning. I thought it was a little weird so i backed out the adjusters all the way and while it spins, it drags a lot and won't spin freely. Tonight I wanted to troubleshoot it so i removed the wheels and once i did that the drum spun freely. At first, I thought my wheels were out of shape and binding it somehow but when I tested it using the lug nuts I noticed that the drum would bind and not spin again. Has anyone encountered this problem that could help me figure out why it's binding? Thank you.
  6. Shout out to Denmarkboy for sending me exactly what I needed along with a spare! Thank you much! And, thanks to the Ratsun community for all the information and advice.
  7. Thank you guys, Denmarkboy, just sent me a couple replacements! :)
  8. Would it be safe to rethread this connector bolt (Banjo Bolt) to 3/8-24? I believe this one is from a 620.
  9. One man's trash, is another man's treasure. :) I liked them enough.
  10. mrbigtanker is willing to spend the money, that's definitely not his issue.
  11. It's now owned by Ryan and sits on Hayashi's. Ive been told it has suspension components from an AE86 and rides on air.
  12. I also want to thank the Ratsun community, because this forum has been a wealth of information. Denny
  13. Thanks for your reply, Daniel. The 521 has me perplexed at times. I bought all new brake components and when I went to install the new cylinders and soft lines on the driver's side, the connector bolt wouldn't screw in. I removed it from the truck and noticed the thread was too large for the cylinder, so I swapped it out with the passenger side and it work. The connector bolt that wouldn't fit also had a bleeder valve that was smaller than 3/8-24. Also, the brake line didn't screw in correctly to the connector, which lead me to believe that the connector and connector bolt is from a different model. Perhaps, a 311 or 620 because it would only screw in a few threads and stop. I've been doing as much research as I can to get the truck back on the ground but it's been one thing after another, so I'm taking it task by task at this point. I've been in contact with DenmarkBoy, he said he has what I'm looking for, I'm really appreciative of that. Denny
  14. Thanks for the info, datzenmike. I was looking for a source either new or used.
  15. Hey Ratsun Community, Ive been stalking the forum for a few weeks now and I realize this is the best place to ask for information. I have a 70 521 and i'm in a bind. Im reaching out to you guys to see if anyone can help me with a couple missing parts. Ive been in the process of replacing the components in my brake system. I found that some of the pieces on the system from the previous owner(s) did not match. To make a long story short, I am looking for part numbers: 41128-08000 and 41130-08000 which may have been superseded by 41130-04100. Is there anyone with those parts that can help me out? I am located in Socal but I can PayPal and provide a shipping label as well. I am trying to keep everything as factory as possible without mismatch parts and threads. Ive tried to purchase them online with the sites that claim they have it when I do a google search, but i have had no luck. All the local salvage yards do not have the truck in inventory. In addition, does anyone know what thread and pitch the connector bolt is? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance! D
