  1. update. tracked the fuel problems late today. the click in the motor was a BOSCH 0580254044 installed by the po above the tank on the left hand side. since being ripped out and replaced with a stocker shes running super smooth at 650 rpm idle got the new alt in not long ago (4:34am now) 14.4v idle with 60 amps at 3k on the tach its at 123 amps. just ordered a ton of parts to get it all sorted. it goes to the workshop on the 21-23 to have the new motor rebuilt (again -_-) getting the carb rebuilt at the same time and having the clutch done(cant get to the clutch without pulling the motor currently) selling an ac bracket to a fellow ratsun member in the coming weeks. (your us prices are insane) replaced the "T connector" as it was connected to a cut wire in the cab (hence why the alt never worked well) ive just gotten some new parts to finish off the wiring. list is as follows. 2 narva 54435 fuse blocks 30 meters of 6mm red cable 30 meters of 6mm black cable 30 lugs to suit 2 100amp relay as currently everything is hooked directly the battery is draining 24/7 10 40amp relays 100 m3,m4,m5,m6,m7,m8,m9,m10 bolts washers and spring washers and nylock nuts (kit) professional carpet is being installed before its finished off at the work shop 200m of 2.5mm cable (black) 200m of 2.5mm cable (red) 3000 peace electrical connection kit 30pcs hss drill bit set new seat covers 6 stage battery charger (will be permanently installed) velcro zip ties. (got sick of using 100 packs in weeks) 1 dual usb outlet (2x 2.1amp) to replace the lighter socket drill chuck (thanks to me not thinking the fan ate the last one. 2m aux extension 2m usb extension another jigsaw. new drill. just got a 200pcs tool kit. makes things so much easier got a 4m x 2m sheet of plywood for a box to house my speakers (behind the rear seats) and replace the kick panels that have rotted away over time. got second hand door cards replaced brake pads exedy clutch kit new spark plugs used cluster (mine failed finely) total cost of AU $1131.24 812.97 US dollars the motor was only done a few weeks ago so by law its covered in full for any and all work required to fix it. registration is on the 8th of october and it will be about 500$ so for that 2 weeks i doubt much will happen.
  2. currently its at 93amp draw idle. my alt was almost dead when i got the car.
  3. limited supply. bigger works out cheaper. headroom. still under 13v with an 80amp at the moment. 129$ for the alt 15$ in parts and a 20$ plug and some wire and done. ill be lazy and not bother converting that from aud to usd plus upcoming road trip and an engel draws close to 40amps so i need more then a factory 35 amp l18 alt can give me. plus i dont want to pay the cost of a brand new weber 32/36 (400usd) for an alt. and its crome.
  4. so i've been working through the alternator swap from a z car so far i've found an alt found a belt i like and various other things. the z car uses the same brackets as the L18 720 and the same part number on the alt. (in australia at least) an l18 will crank the alt perfectly fine according the manufacturer specs. im removing my ac soon as i'm selling the ac bracket to a fellow member with an l16 who doesn't want to pay the stupidly high us prices for one. my questions are as follows. can i run the alternator on either side of the motor? what thickness cable should be used when running a 130amp alt that outputs close to 80 amps idle(550 rpms) i'm considering 6mm2 cable currently. link to swap http://goo.gl/k5ima8 if i wanted to at a later date could i run 2 130 amp alt's?
  5. Just got a good suggestion. There's a early Datsun patrol getting striped near me with some stuff. Bolts almost exactly the same spots to a 720
  6. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Nissan-Pulsar-N14-N15-N16-200SX-S14-S15-100-Amp-Hi-output-Alternator-FREE-Meter-/131512297045?hash=item1e9ebe6655 or that
  7. when replacing the alt and adding a second. (removing ac compressor as its stalling the motor again when used) what type is suggested. looking at something like this http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Holden-Chev-Universal-1-Wire-Internal-Reg-100-amp-Chrome-Alternator-S3902-/400818283594?hash=item5d52a1a44a or the ford kind early 80's f trucks came with. as they in part hooked right to the battery. bypassing the stock wiring
  8. just so were on the same page here roos go for headlights randomly have a good bar setup saves lives i know people locally who have paid huge prices for not having some form of bullbar when they had a head on with a roo or a bull
  9. i was looking at 1/2 inch steel side steps that a lot of friends and family run and that i run on my lux and f150. never had problems and even in a side on crash in 2011 the f150 didnt get a dent in the bar. poor guy who hit me totaled his car though. this kind of thing is what was fitted to ftrucks and such here. lot of nissan gq/gu/x trail/comp trucks and varous others have them its high tensile steel powerder coated black and then you add the plate overtop. insanely tough and meant for cars that get pushed to breaking point. most people use them for underbody armour as well. i was considering doing the same what underbody armour consists of (from end to end) i was looking at removing the bumper and my nudge bar. for a proper bullbar to suit the area before it gets totalled for the roos and cattle most people run this kind of thing a lot of them mesh over the gaps to prevent lights getting smashed bullbar nudge bar a nudge bar wont take a roo or a cow. a bullbar will take both at medium to low speed. a propper heavy duty bullbar/roo bar wont get a scrach from a full sized 1 ton bull
  10. My steel nudge bar just has 4 bolts and a few screws.
  11. Yeah we never got 720 bullbars just nudge bars. Did get one optional d21 bar but the mounts need serous modding and the bars never supported winches
  12. And yes my single cab got bogged in my drive way the 5th day running. Over it.
  13. Someone's in a good mood. I can see the us doesn't have problems with half the country being dirt or in my case all of it being dirt and mud all year round.
  14. A 84 4x4 720 single cab My dual cab has the same mounts anyway.
  15. Just that. Got quote got winch got steel. Waiting to know where to mount as factory mounts for the nudge bar arnt going to cut it.
